Senior People Manager (Women’s RWC England 2025 LOC)

FIXED-TERM CONTRACT UNTIL OCTOBER 2025

BASED IN WEBB ELLIS HOUSE, TWICKENHAM

 

Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament.  World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.

 

Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. Women’s RWC 2025 will be the ultimate stage for the best players, teams and coaches from 16 nations across the globe and is set to be the biggest and most widely watched women's rugby event ever. Women’s RWC 2025 LOC is looking to appoint Match Managers within the Women’s RWC 2025 LOC, based in London in the initial stages of the role, however given the operational nature of the role travel to match venues is required The Match Managers are key members of the team that will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Rugby World Cup across Match Management and the policies and procedures for the match. Reporting into the Match Management Manager centrally and with a reporting line into the Venue Managers whilst on venue.

 

The LOC intends to appoint a Senior People Manager. This role will report into the Head of Business Operations and line manage three staff.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Oversee the LOC 2025 Tournament Time Secondment Process, including agreeing terms and templates with multiple seconding organisations.
  • Lead the contracting process for up to 100 Tournament Time staff, including ensuring compliance with IR35 regulations and the oversight of non-payroll invoice payment.
  • Develop and oversee the off boarding process for 170 staff during a compressed period at tournament end.
  • Support the Talent Acquisition recruitment processes for large volumes of staff
  • Lead EDI initiatives for LOC Staff and Workforce
  • Support Workforce on scheduling of tournament time operations and the development of relevant policies.
  • Have line management responsibility for three staff covering Talent Acquisition, Human Resources and Workforce.

 

Experience & knowledge you’ll need:

  • Experience in the development, integration and delivery of policies that impact on staff (in either HR or Workforce capacity)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to bring together diverse stakeholder groups
  • Detailed orientated with experience of using systems to accurately manage large data sets in excel or similar
  • Experience in the management of complex employment scenarios including grievances and formal complaints
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant work time legislation
  • Ability to drive complicated solutions to resolution, while engaging diverse stakeholders
  • Proven experience in a fast changing and dynamic work environment that includes a mix of employment times concurrently (e.g. full time, FTC, contract and supplier)
  • Is able to effectively transition between completing work themselves and supervising and support others to achieve their tasks

 

Nice to Haves:

  • Relevant managerial experience in multi venue sports events
  • Experience in the development and delivery of EDI programmes
  • A HR related degree
