Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament.  World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.

 

Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. Women’s RWC 2025 will be the ultimate stage for the best players, teams and coaches from 16 nations across the globe and is set to be the biggest and most widely watched women's rugby event ever. We’re looking to appoint a Readiness Manager who will report into the Strategic Planning Lead withing the LOC. The role will focus on the research, plan and facilitating of readiness and simulation exercises for RWC2025 will liaise with many stakeholders including the LOC Venue Management team, LOC Programme Management team, WR Events and Media Head of Event Planning and Risk and external stakeholders too.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Research, plan and facilitate readiness and simulation exercises for RWC2025, including organising the logistics as well as content for these sessions, making use of the World Rugby Readiness Library and Delivery Framework that are in place.
  • Lead the delivery of exercises for both RWC2025 workforce and external stakeholders which will be both online and in-person.
  • Lead on the detailed preparation for all elements of the ‘Desktop Exercising’ stream within the Readiness Programme
  • Pro-actively look for risks/gaps and work with Functional Areas and Partners as required to rectify and address these
  • Use the existing Operational Risk list to ensure a risk based approach to Readiness, and ensure the Readiness programme is facilitating the mitigation of identified risks.
  • Maintain the Operational Risk List in the Programme Management Tool (WeTrack Incident Management System) and keep it up to date, in line with the latest developments and learnings from testing and observation.
  • Validate the operational risks that will remain as we move into tournament time and ensure senior leadership are aware of these. Ensure the tournament time Incident Management System is reflective of this.
  • Collaborate with the LOC Programme Management Functional Area to track and monitor outcomes, actions and lessons learnt from exercises and simulations across the programme. 
  • Lead on the planning and execution of Readiness Reviews in order to provide assurance that the LOC is adequately prepared to host the tournament
  • Provide assurance on the overall progress towards Tournament Readiness (across all elements of the Readiness Programme – training; desktop exercises; simulations; rehearsals; match & non-match tests),
  • Provide regular assurance reporting

 

 

Experience & knowledge you’ll need:

  • Proven experience delivering all elements of readiness activities including desktop scenarios and simulations, both online and in-person
  • Experience working on major events with a detailed understanding of the operational requirements and challenges associated
  • Strong communication and excellent written skills
  • Well-developed presentation and facilitation skills with an ability to maintain engagement with a room full of stakeholders, both online and in person
  • Quick thinking, ability to think ahead and ask prompting questions
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across a range of external stakeholders.
  • Skilled at synthesising complex information into well defined, and easily communicated plans for implementation 
  • Ability to prioritise tasks contributing towards the programme deliverables 
  • Highly proficient in public speaking and group facilitation

 

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience setting up and logistically planning a hybrid event, as well as experience facilitating in a hybrid environment.
