Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.
Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. Women’s RWC 2025 will be the ultimate stage for the best players, teams and coaches from 16 nations across the globe and is set to be the biggest and most widely watched women's rugby event ever. As the Communications Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the promotion of the tournament, working closely with various internal and external stakeholders to raise the profile and awareness of RWC 2025 and ensure that external communications are aligned to the tournament’s key messaging and objectives.
A key focus will be directly supporting the Communications Manager on the implementation of the tournament’s communications strategy, supporting copy development for fan communications and guides, as well as resourcefully developing & delivering our upcoming event activations.
What you’ll be doing:
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including all eight (8) Official Host Locations, the RFU, and different departments within World Rugby.
- Ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed and engaged throughout the various tournament milestones and ticket sales phases.
- Support the development of copy for spectator communications, working in collaboration with different departments to ensure key information is included.
- Work in collaboration with local partners to ensure localised communications align with both the tournament’s key messages and the partners’ objectives.
- Work closely with the local Marketing and Communications Working Groups to identify opportunities in the lead up to the tournament to reach new audiences.
- Support the planning and execution of onsite activations in and around our Official Host Locations in the lead up to the tournament, including community engagement activities, partner activations, and media events.
- Assist in the processing and payment of project costs and invoices and maintaining accurate budgets.
Experience & knowledge you’ll need:
- Proven experience in communications.
- Excellent written skills, drafting copy for various spectator and external communications.
- Experience with stakeholder management and event activation delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with an excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- An understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion, with a passion for promoting and supporting the tournament commitment to gender equity and identity representation.
Nice to Haves:
- Good understanding of Digital and Content Management Systems platforms.
- Familiarity with multi-channel marketing and platforms, including digital, email, social media, OOH, and content marketing.
- Experience working within the sports and/or events industry.
- Strong interest in women’s sports.
