The Saudi Olympic Training Center are looking for a new Senior Director of Performance Services to lead the Sports Science and Performance departments. Responsibilities include developing strategic plans, mentoring a diverse team, delivering personalised athlete support, managing budgets, and fostering collaborations to enhance athlete performance and innovation.

ROLE DETAILS

  • Reports to: Head of the Saudi Olympic Training Center
  • Direct Reports: Performance services e.g., Coaching, nutrition Staff.
  • Department: Performance Services
  • External Relationships: SOPC, National Federations, Ministry of Sport, Athletes, Coaches

ROLE PURPOSE

Pivotal SOTC leadership role responsible for overseeing and advancing the Sports Science and Performance departments. Leading the team ensuring SOTC athletes receive the highest quality support, utilizing cutting-edge sports science and performance strategies, enabling peak performance in their respective disciplines. Director will collaborate closely with coaches, athletes, and other stakeholders to drive culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a vision and strategic plan for the Sports Science and Performance departments, aligning them with the overall objectives of SOTC
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of sports scientists, performance analysts, physiologists, psychologists, and other professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Oversee the delivery of personalized performance support services to elite athletes, including performance analysis, sports psychology, nutrition, and injury prevention, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Drive research initiatives to advance sports science knowledge and methodologies, seeking innovative approaches to enhance athlete performance.
  • Manage budgets, staffing, and resources effectively, ensuring the department operates efficiently and within established financial guidelines.
  • Foster strong partnerships with coaches, medical staff, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless integration of sports science and performance strategies into training and competition plans.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data and analytics to guide decision-making processes, optimizing training programs, identifying areas for improvement.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum 8 years experience in high performance sport management/ and 3 years in leadership
  • Leading a team more than 20 highly specialized employees with expertise across Medical Services, Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition, Performance Therapies, Performance Sciences, and Athlete Wellness
  • Comprehensive overview of sports science disciplines, including biomechanics, physiology, psychology, and nutrition, as well as an understanding of their application to athlete development.
  • Strong familiarity with cutting-edge technologies and tools used in elite athlete support, including data analytics and performance tracking systems.
  • Experience in overseeing and managing development projects in the field of sports science and elite performance is highly desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Sports Management, or a related field (a Master's or Ph.D. is highly desirable).
  • Proven track record of leadership in high-performance sports settings, including experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated success in driving performance improvements in elite athletes.
