1 ROLE DETAILS

    • Position Title: Head Coach, Wrestling
    • Reports to: High Performance Director
    • Direct Reports: Coaching-specific staff (e.g. Assistant Coach, etc.)
    • Department: Sport Strategy & Performance
    • External Relationships: Athletes, Coaches, Media and Sponsors

2 ROLE PURPOSE

  • Provide outstanding coaching leadership both internally and externally for Wrestling bearing the overall responsibility for planning, implementation, management and control of the training of all squad athletes and their participation/performance in (international) competitions. . While this role is employed within the SOTC, it will function as the coaching lead for the Saudi Arabian (insert name of Sport) Federation.

3 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In collaboration with the High-Performance Director or Director, Sport Strategy and Performance or designated Wrestling, lead and manage the coaching strategic direction, development, preparation, culture, and performance of the Saudi Arabia High Performance Wrestling Program aligned with its approved budgetary, administrative, and operational framework.
  • Overall responsibility for the creation of interdisciplinary and discipline-specific world level and season analyses
  • Comprehensive definition and coordination of the composition of the overall support team including monitoring / controlling performance development (including recovery mechanisms, etc.)
  • Overall responsibility for the creation of performance frameworks / annual plans / training plans
  • Overall planning and coordination of cooperation between all coaches under the umbrella of the Federation, the supporting high performance staff, the state / federal coaches and selected club coaches
  • Overall content control and implementation of the training process to the states and clubs

4 EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience of leading an elite level coaching team operating at the highest level.
  • Extensive performance knowledge and technical expertise in Wrestling
  • Proven international success in performance management, or coaching
  • A background and recent experience of leading a national team operating in high performance sport - demonstrating highly developed coaching leadership and management skills Experience developing and setting a strategy and communicating a vision that engages and inspires people to envision future success and move towards higher levels of performance
  • Can build a high-performance culture that actively embraces wellbeing as a key plank of an environment for sustained high-performance sport success.

5 SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • In-depth understanding of the specific sport, including coaching methodologies, tactics, strategies, and athlete development.
  • Demonstrated skill in coaching athletes at various levels, from beginners to elite competitors.
  • Strong leadership skills to lead a team of coaches, support staff, and athletes.
  • Ability to design comprehensive training programs that optimize athletes' physical, technical, and mental skills.
  • Proficiency in teaching and refining sport-specific techniques and skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey coaching concepts, strategies, and feedback effectively.

6 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant coaching qualification (national or recognised international accreditation)
  • Bachelor degree in sports science, psychology or related field is desirable.
