The Institute for Sport Business at Loughborough University London combines Loughborough’s reputation for global sport business expertise with an ideal location in the world’s greatest sports city. Our five master’s degree programmes incorporate award-winning teaching from a broad range of international experts alongside numerous opportunities to engage with sport industry leaders, capitalising on our unique location in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, home of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Launched in September 2015, the London campus of Loughborough University offers a range of innovative postgraduate taught and research opportunities to meet the needs of the fast-paced and ever-evolving sport industry. Our degrees focus on sport business analytics and technologies, innovation, marketing, leadership, and sustainability. Students are empowered with the knowledge and abilities needed to operate across the commercial, not-for-profit and public sport business sectors. Our unrivalled partnerships with a wealth of leading businesses and sport organisations means teaching and research is informed by real-life challenges and driven by true industry pressures.

Our unique block teaching model means that each module is delivered intensely over the course of three weeks, followed by a one week assessment period. This focused form of learning allows students to become immersed in a topic and focus all of their efforts on it for a short period, as they only engage with one module at a time. Our students also have the opportunity to work directly with our sport industry partners through the Collaborative Project module and the Collaborative Dissertation. In the Collaborative Project module, students work in teams to develop solutions to a real-world issue presented by a sport organisation. For students who choose to complete a Collaborative Dissertation, they work one-on-one with an industry partner to conduct research on a specific issue or problem and then provide their findings and recommendations.

In the Institute for Sport Business, we take pride in our inclusivity, diversity, and outstanding student experience. With over 60 nationalities represented amongst our staff and students, one of our greatest strengths is our diversity. Students benefit from learning not only from world-leading academics, but also from their global peers. We offer numerous opportunities for students to connect with their peers, staff, and industry experts outside of the classroom, including social events for students in each MSc programme, engagement opportunities with our Sport Industry Advisory Board, expert lectures and presentations, and networking and career events specifically focused on the sport business industry. Our Institute for Sport Business master’s programmes consistently rank amongst the best in the entire university for the student experience. Along with our extracurricular offerings, we pride ourselves on offering mentorship and support to our students throughout their postgraduate journey and beyond.
