A day in the life:

  • Conduct hands-on research and development activities to innovate new textile chemistry solutions tailored to the Asian market.
  • Drive the development and implementation of sustainable materials and processes, with a focus on reducing environmental impact and improving product performance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize product formulations and processes for local market requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with local suppliers and manufacturers to facilitate the adoption of innovative materials and processes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers to enhance their capabilities in sustainable textile chemistry.
  • Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of new materials and technologies to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.
  • Lead and manage innovation projects from concept to implementation, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, highlighting key achievements and challenges.
  • Upskilling RMI and mainline teams in new technologies, protocols and guest benefits .
  • Be the champion, communicator, and storyteller of chemistry and finishing innovation work through presentations, tools, and innovation manuals created for the organization and appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensure that cross-functional partners, such as product development, design, sourcing, merchandising, wear testing, and external vendors/researchers have the most up-to-date information/education on each project and collaborations are effective.
  • Partner with enterprise and mainline leaders to ensure alignment between workstreams.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Textile Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in textile chemistry, product development, or innovation engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with textile manufacturing processes and equipment, particularly in the Asian context
  • Knowledge of sustainable materials and processes, with a focus on environmental sustainability and circular economy principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
