Full Description
As a senior member of the team, you will not only operate and troubleshoot live systems but also design improvements, drive process innovations, and ensure flawless execution of mission-critical live sports broadcasts. This position is based in Los Angeles with an in office expectation and will require travel to support remote productions as needed.
What You'll Do
- Oversee, setup and manage both on-premise hardware and cloud-based video pipelines for our live video augmentation system.
- Serve as the primary technical lead during live sports broadcasts, ensuring stable and high-quality delivery of video, audio, and metadata (ad markers, closed captioning, player tracking, game clocks, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex live production issues quickly and effectively, minimizing downtime and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Mentor and train junior operators, establishing best practices and providing guidance during live operations.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to design and propose new features, system improvements, and scalable workflows.
- Lead testing and simulations of updates and new features prior to deployment in live environments.
Represent Genius Sports with clients during live events and remote site deployments, providing clear communication under pressure. - Contribute to operational planning, resource allocation, and process documentation to support growth and efficiency.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in live video production, with a strong background in live sports broadcasts.
- Deep knowledge of video formats, encoders, and streaming protocols.
- Strong understanding of both traditional and IP-based video transmission protocols and video signal flow.
- Proven experience architecting and operating live media workflows in the cloud (AWS, GCP, or similar).
- Prior experience in a control room environment, with the ability to manage high-stakes live events independently.
- Flexibility to work a sports-based schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) and willingness to travel to support remote productions.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing operators, freelance staff, or production crews.

The salary for this role is based on an annualized salary range of $80,000 - $100,000. This role will also be eligible to take part in Genius Sports Group's benefits plan.
