about this team

The Raw Materials team create industry leading, high quality, eco-friendly performance raw materials in collaboration with Sourcing & Supplier Partners. We transform design concepts into reality, research new technologies/solutions, and develop fabrics, trims, colour & prints that surprise & delight the guest while meeting quality and compliance standards.

a day in the life: what you'll do

  • Develops raw materials according to performance and quality standards, and in line with lululemon strategies and business goals.
  • Drives product innovation by working with designers, mills, attending trade shows, and collaborating with Sourcing team to optimize trim vendor base.
  • Owns risk assessment for the raw materials commercialized for a season working in partnership with Product development and quality teams.
  • Develops a clear partnership with design to ensure fast and efficient commercialization of Raw Materials according to the Go-To-Market Calendar deadlines.
  • Provide technical support for the designers and garment technical teams on raw material construction, innovation and on the technical capability of vendors to deliver the products required.
  • To be a support to lululemon's sustainability initiatives
  • Ensure timely completion of fabric DNA profiles and E-signed specs.
  • Visit industry trade shows, fairs and mills to gain knowledge and apply to the lululemon athletica's product range.

qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Textiles, Fashion, Industrial Design, or a Textiles related field with a strong emphasis on fibers and materials.
  • 5+ years of textile experience and a working knowledge of the apparel industry in a raw materials role, preferably in a sport performance company.
  • Strong knowledge of technical materials and material development processes and timelines.
  • Strong technical knowledge gained in manufacturing environment covering all areas of textiles from fibres, yarn, material construction, finishes and printing.
  • Strong knowledge of industry testing standards/test reports. Strong understanding of cross-functional team accountabilities and requirements preferred, including design, sourcing, merchandising and quality assurance and calendar.
  • Accustomed to working in a fast paced environment with a dynamic work flow.
  • Attention to detail, problem solving capabilities, multi tasking and energized to make a difference.
  • To drive self-development and to ensure that material technical skills are developed and optimized to provide better understanding of the materials used.
  • To maintain current knowledge on vendors and industry developments to deliver material technical innovation opportunities to set Lululemon apart from its competitors.
  • Experience traveling and working with suppliers outside of North America, preferably Asia.

compensation and benefits package

lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $96,800 - 127,100 CAD annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.

workplace arrangement

This role is classified as Hybrid under our SSC Workplace Policy:

  • In-person collaboration is important, and much of the role can be performed remotely. Work is performed onsite at least 3 days per week.
