About this team

Under the Raw Material umbrella, the Raw Material Colour Chemistry Developer is a collaborative role in providing direction and inspiration in the commercialization of the technical developments within the colouration world, which in turn allows a team of developers to create the best in class products. This person supports within their area of expertise and ensures that the colour intent is achieved to the highest lululemon quality requirements.

A day in the life:

  • Support the Raw Material fabric development, ensuring materials are able to meet lululemon's quality standard through a proper up front colour feasibility process
  • Ensure performance attributes from dyeing and finishing point of view
  • Work closely with our Fabric Mills and Dye Houses from the beginning of the process to make sure the right process and dyeing parameters are used; elevate dyeing capabilities where needed when it comes to the product, material and colour
  • To work closely and to keep a strong relationship with the chemical providers and machine producers to select the best in class dyes for lululemon products and to ensure that all materials are in accordance with the company's RSL
  • Recommend special finishing or treatments that can elevate technical performance of lululemon products
  • Work with the colour standard provider to ensure that the colour feasibility is properly shared in accordance with lululemon requirements
  • To support the sustainability team in their initiatives to drive environmental improvements for lululemon

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Chemistry Textiles with strong emphasis on chemistry, textile, materials or related disciplines
  • 8-10 Years of apparel industry experience in the colouration and finishing world or experience in a dyeing mill or textile chemistry supplier
  • Skill set showcase success in commercializing product for women's and men's on various calendar tracks
  • Fluent in English, Mandarin a plus
  • Passionate about mentoring, coaching and training people
  • Experience leading manufacturers on-site across Asia
  • Strong knowledge in supply chain operations
  • Collaborative team player, knowledge of cross functional teams including Design, Material Sourcing, Merchandising and Quality Assurance
  • Strong understanding of commercialization process from design inception through to quality standard
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including analytical, problem solving
  • Strong computer skills (Flex PLM software, Excel, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft office applications and Outlook)
  • Detailed understanding of product creation calendar timeline and able to work against deadlines for multiple overlapping seasons
