Job Description

As a Global Outsourced Payroll Team Leader you will be responsible for for overseeing the Global Payroll Processing Team covering the day-to-day administration of multiple small to medium sized non-UK payrolls outsourced in various locations globally 

Reporting to the Global Payroll Assurance Manager you will be part of the Global People Services team, who support the Global Payroll Assurance Manager in responding effectively to the company's varied global payroll requirements.

The role covers management of payroll production, data gathering, validation and transfer to providers, along with validation of payroll outputs to ensure the accuracy of the company's payrolls. Acting as a point of contact for internal and external partners, the role requires a highly professional individual, with a keen eye for detail, who can analyse and present data clearly and effectively.

What you will do

  • Responsible for processing payroll in various global locations – managing a team to deliver non-UK payrolls across multiple countries processed by outsourced payroll partners covering 1000+ employees, with future growth in existing and new territories.
  • Working as part of the leadership group for the Global Payroll Assurance Team to ensure ongoing and ad hoc business needs are met, and deputising for the Global Payroll Assurance Manager as required.
  • Working with teams across the organisation, such as People Services, Reward, Tax and Finance, to ensure accurate and timely processing of payrolls, and off-cycle adjustments as needed.
  • Overseeing effective and efficient processes to ensure all relevant employee data is compiled and validated before transferring to outsourced payroll partners each period following the agreed timelines.
  • Working flexibly across multiple payrolls to support team members as required.
  • Review and first line sign off, of payroll outputs from providers and supporting query handling.
  • Providing excellent customer service for colleagues and business partners – providing post-payroll reports, responding to emails and more complex payroll cases within SLAs.
  • Working with Finance and Treasury teams to ensure the required funds are transferred to providers on the agreed schedule.
  • Providing regular briefings to departmental management throughout the pay cycle, providing guidance and solutions to possible areas of risk.
  • Supporting Finance teams with payroll queries as required.
  • Supporting ongoing work with local country tax agencies to ensure filing compliance.



Qualifications

  • Graduate
  • CIPP or Finance Qualification or working towards qualification
  • Relevant payroll experience
  • Good understanding of UK and/or foreign employment tax legislation, its application and best practice
  • A good understanding of payroll processes. An understanding of outsourced payroll processes would be ideal but not essential
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a payroll role covering all aspects of payroll processing
  • Experience of working across multiple payrolls/pay cycles
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines
  • Experience of working on outsourced payrolls and/or global payroll processing is a plus
  • Experience of leading and motivating a small team
  • Experience of dealing with complex queries and cases and providing resolutions/advice within SLAs
