Marylebone Cricket Club is the world's most active cricket club, is guardian of the Laws of Cricket and owner of Lord's Cricket Ground. There are approximately 18,350 full Members, and 5,500 Associate Members of MCC. Founded in 1787, MCC issued the first code of Laws in 1788 and moved to their current home at Lord's in 1814. MCC remains, in the words of a former president, Sir Pelham Warner, “a private club with a public function.” The Club fields more teams than any other, playing around 500 matches each year against schools, universities and clubs in the UK and abroad.

MCC has started a search to appoint the Chief Executive, the most senior executive at the Club, appointed by the Main Committee. Given the diverse activities of MCC and its important role in cricket, the Chief Executive role is a challenging and multi-faceted one that requires a first-class business executive and team leader, with strong commercial and operational acumen. With cricket in a phase of dynamic change, the Chief Executive must ensure that MCC retains its relevance within the sport on a global basis whilst also respecting the heritage and history of the Club and acting in the best interests of the membership.

The ideal candidate will bring a range of skills and experience to the role, including:

• Leadership and management: a track record of leadership at the highest levels, with a blended skillset across operations, strategy, finance, commercial development, and wider management.
• Cricket: an affinity with cricket in all forms, with credibility in interacting with and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the game.
• Commercial: broad commercial experience in a dynamic and competitive sector, ideally with prior exposure to consumer, venue, service, leisure, or entertainment.

MCC is at a very exciting juncture; the challenges and, more importantly, the opportunities facing the new Chief Executive make this an opportunity which rarely presents itself in global sport.
