The Role:
Manchester United is seeking a dedicated and skilled Academy Physiotherapist to join our Youth Development and Foundation Phase medical team. This role plays a key part in delivering an elite physiotherapy service to our Academy players, supporting their long-term development and performance.
You will work closely with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist (YDP/FP), the Head of Academy Physiotherapy, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding medical care and rehabilitation programmes for young players. This includes managing injuries, supporting injury prevention strategies, and contributing to a positive, player-centred development environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver physiotherapy services to Youth Development and Foundation Phase players in line with best practice.
- Collaborate with medical, performance, and coaching staff to ensure integrated care and rehabilitation.
- Design and implement evidence-based rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual needs.
- Contribute to regular performance and medical team meetings.
- Support matchday medical cover and attend both domestic and international tours as required.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation, aligned with professional standards.
- Assist with logistical and administrative responsibilities, including equipment maintenance and ordering.
- Support the management of part-time/casual physiotherapy staff.
The Person:
- BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy
- Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Current FA Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) qualification
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience working with young athletes in a sporting environment
- A flexible and positive mindset, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
Desirable
- MSc (completed or in progress) in a relevant field (e.g. sports injuries, sports medicine)
- Experience within elite youth football
- Previous experience within the NHS
