World Rugby is the world governing and law-making body for the sport of Rugby Union. In addition to its governance functions, World Rugby organizes a number of major international tournaments and events, such as the Rugby World Cups (women's and men's), the annual Rugby Sevens Series and the developmental Women's WV international tournament.

World Rugby is now on a mission to innovate to excite, inspire and engage new audiences in existing and new rugby markets, to grow the sport for all. Through World Rugby Events & Media (WREM), the delivery of major tournaments under a new model will be key to the success of a ten year strategic plan which will see Rugby World Cups in England in 2025, Australia in 2027 & 2029, and culminating in ground breaking tournaments in the USA in 2031 and 2033. Under the new model, World Rugby will have a more direct role in the setting up, running and delivery of the Rugby World Cups and aims to be the leader in the delivery of major international events.

WOMEN’S RUGBY PROGRAMMES ADMINISTRATOR 

 6 month FTC  June 2025 – 31st January 2026 

Women’s sport is in the spotlight and enjoying record audiences and commercial interest, new media deals,  and unparalleled growth in participation.  Women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide, due to this global shift and World Rugby’s commitment to growing the game. The Women’s Business Unit is expanding to drive sustainable growth which is opening up exciting opportunities to be part of this dynamic team. 

OBJECTIVE 

World Rugby wishes to appoint a Programme Administrator reporting to the Head of Women’s Rugby Programmes. The Programme Administrator will play a critical role in supporting World Rugby’s core women’s rugby and women’s management team.  The role will work across a variety of projects to ensure the smooth running of the department from an administrative and organisational perspective.  

  • Provide administrative and coordination support across the Women’s Rugby team to ensure project deliverables are met  

  • Including with a specific focus on the Women’s Rugby Global Summit  hosted in London autumn 2025 supporting in the coordination of the agenda, presentations and digital content and collateral requirements  

  • Manage cross team diary management and the coordination of meetings – both internally and externally 

  • Including the delivery of women’s rugby programmes virtual webinar series,  including the management of all technical, logistical and translation services that may be required  

  • Support financial accounting procedures such as purchase orders, invoicing, tracking costs and supplier onboarding and payments, ensuring all World Rugby processes are followed  

  • Manage team virtual filing and document management systems to ensure all relevant and key women’s rugby documentation is archived and in up to date order  

  • Manage team travel and accommodation requirements for both domestic and international travel where required  

  • Collaborate with cross- organization colleagues and departments to optimize workstreams and ways of working, proactively looking for ways to improve efficiencies and collaboration  

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Immediately available -  the successful candidate will  be able to start immediately in June 2025 

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple individuals across a varied portfolio of responsibilities. 

  • Demonstrable success in supporting senior leaders and managers at all levels working to deadlines and operational teams under pressure. 

  • Experience dealing with budgets, purchase order systems, and other project management tools. 

COMPETENCIES (KEY SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES) 

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills 

  • Experienced in all MS Office programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)  

  • Attention to detail 

  • Positive, outgoing personality - collaborative, persistent, resilient and diplomatic. 

  • Driven and passionate – no job too big or small 

  • Adaptability – same approach to major projects as basic administrative duties 

  • Flexibility – can work virtually and in person, can travel when required 

  • Ability to forge strong relationships and a team player 

  • Ability to work on own initiative 

  • Background in rugby is preferable
