Job Summary:
As Social Values Manager for Glasgow 2026, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the Commonwealth Games delivers not just a world-class sporting event, but a transformational legacy for the people of Glasgow and the wider Commonwealth. This role is about more than policies—it’s about embedding purpose.
You’ll lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive Social Value Strategy, bringing together principles of Accessibility, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Employability, and Sustainability. Your work will help create a Games experience that is inclusive, accessible, and impactful—before, during, and long after the event.
Working across community, policy, and operations, you’ll collaborate with partners across the city and the Games network to align public engagement, legacy planning, and social outcomes. You’ll be responsible for turning strategy into action—driving tangible improvements, challenging the status quo, and ensuring that every Games function contributes to a bold and equitable vision for social impact.
Key Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate will have significant experience in developing and delivering comprehensive Social Value strategies, ideally in complex, high-profile environments such as major events, the public sector, or large-scale programmes with a social impact focus. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of accessibility, employability, equality, diversity, inclusion (EDI), and sustainability, with the ability to integrate these principles into all aspects of organisational planning and operations.
You will be confident engaging with a broad range of stakeholders—including government partners, community organisations, internal teams, and external suppliers—and adept at influencing and embedding social impact goals across diverse functions. Your experience will include developing strategies with measurable legacy outcomes, managing projects through to implementation, and aligning initiatives with overarching organisational objectives.
Analytically minded, you’ll be comfortable using data and insight to drive decision-making and continuous improvement. A natural communicator and relationship builder, you’ll be proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused, with the resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
You will also bring a working knowledge of relevant standards and frameworks, such as ISO 20121, accessibility audits, and inclusive recruitment practices, and a genuine passion for delivering inclusive, meaningful, and lasting impact for the people of Glasgow and the wider Commonwealth.
