The Role/s

We are excited to offer two incredible opportunities to join the Sport team at Glasgow 2026 as Senior Sport Project Managers.

Reporting to the Director of Sport, these senior roles will each be responsible for the planning and delivery oversight of a cluster of sports, along with leading key cross-sport areas across Sport Competition, Sport Services, and Sport Operations. Each successful candidate will be allocated a specific group of sports and lead responsibilities based on expertise and operational need, following the recruitment process.

As a Senior Sport Project Manager, you will play a central role in shaping the planning and operations of Glasgow 2026’s sporting programme. Working closely with internal teams, International Federations, and delivery partners, you will ensure the delivery of sport competition and services meets the highest international standards while embracing the unique spirit of the Games.

This is an opportunity to be at the heart of a world-class event, working with passionate professionals and visionary leaders who are committed to showcasing Scotland on the international stage as well as delivering excellence for athletes and local communities.

Job Summary:

Cluster 1 - Sport Competition, Technical Officials, and Training Venues

In this role, you will foster strong relationships with key sport stakeholders including International Federations, UK and Scottish Governing Bodies, and delivery partners. You’ll lead the recruitment, training, and management of sport managers, technical officials, and training venue personnel, while overseeing the creation of sport-specific and operational delivery plans. You’ll manage the end-to-end journey for Technical Officials across ten sports, ensuring all requirements are in place from nomination through Games Time.

You will also implement training venue use agreements, support the Director of Sport with competition schedule development, and manage sport-related technology interfaces for results, timing, scoring, and venue infrastructure. Additionally, you’ll lead the development of sport policies, contribute to the readiness programme, and ensure the successful delivery of Games-wide project milestones, including Transfer of Knowledge documentation and risk and issue management.

Cluster 2 - Entries, Sport Information, and Equipment Delivery

The second Senior Sport Project Manager will also work closely with sport stakeholders, with a focus on sport entries, information services, and equipment logistics. You’ll lead on the recruitment and management of key sport delivery roles and ensure the effective planning and execution of sport entries and Games-time information services for all participating Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs).

This role includes overseeing the development and distribution of sport publications, managing the procurement of sport-specific equipment, and ensuring all competition, training, and warm-up venues are fit for purpose. You’ll also lead on sport workforce planning with the HR and Volunteer teams and collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to deliver athlete medical services that align with international sport standards. Games Time duties will be a core part of the role, ensuring all aspects of sport delivery meet expectations.

Key Skills and Experience:

We are looking for individuals with extensive experience in a Sport department or similar capacity within an international sporting event, ideally within a multi-sport Games environment.

A strong understanding of sport-specific international competition standards, coupled with in-depth knowledge of sport operations, services, and their integration within a complex event delivery model, is essential.

You will bring proven project management expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while coordinating with diverse stakeholder groups.

Strong relationship management skills, particularly with National and International Federations, along with a track record of delivering results under pressure, will be critical to your success in this role.

Ideally you’ll bring prior experience as a Competition Manager or in a leadership role overseeing sport entries, equipment, or information services.
