In short
We are looking for a Footwear Developer to become part of the worlds’ fastest growing sports company. You will be responsible for the entire development and commercialization process of both new and existing footwears from an approved design brief in collaboration with factory development, commercialization, and technical teams. You will have the unique opportunity to be in On’s development team in Vietnam while working closely with the product creation team in Switzerland.
Your Mission
- Develop products on-time to the target price and in accordance with the design and technical requirements of the technical package while maintaining an emphasis on performance by following options to meet key features and product performance goals
- Review and confirm all bottom tooling blueprints prior to opening sample molds. Contribute ideas for product design, construction, materials, and components to enhance functionality, aesthetics, duty, compliance, fit, and product margin
- Manage sampling and prototyping across all development phases (e.g. ILR, FLR, fit and wear test samples, CFM, etc.)
- Elaborate product and testing requirements together with the product creation team and assure product performance through physical, fit, and field-testing
- Manage timelines, manufacturing, and material supply chain projects and resources in an organized, well-prioritized manner
- Actively communicate with the product creation team during all phases of the development process, co-determining and executing the decision making process that leads to on-time product sample delivery
- Engage appropriately in all phases of the product process to ensure projects are completed on time, can be commercialized, manufactured, while meeting design intent, performance, costing and sustainability goals
- Be responsible for ensuring that correct information is fed into the PLM system
- Visit the production line on a regular basis with a focus on product quality, process improvement, and collective learning
Your story
- A bachelor’s degree in product design, development, manufacturing, or a related field
- At least 5 years’ experience in footwear development, specifically in footwear engineering and manufacturing
- Knowledge of industry tooling processes, including 2D/3D CAD and CAM, proficient in Adobe Illustrator. Strong knowledge of pattern engineering, tooling processes, and mold making
- Experience with the development of new footwear materials and innovative manufacturing techniques
- Detail oriented with strong organizational, work ethic, and teamwork skills
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Can work under high pressure and have a willingness to travel overseas and domestically
