The On retail fleet is expanding, has big ambitions and we’re looking for a creative and confident Retail Design Architect Lead to help us take Retail to the next level.
The Retail Design Architect Lead will be building and leading key priority projects with a fast-turn timeline to deliver new concepts and pilots that push On’s retail environments to new levels of premium and brand excellence. The role reports to and works in collaboration with the Retail Design Creative Senior Lead, working directly with and in partnership with the global Head Retail Design, Retail Operations, Real Estate, Visual Experience, and Construction teams.
You will combine your design expertise with project management and leadership skills to play a critical role in new store concepts for DTC, B2B and showrooms that mark On’s next growth phase, address future trends in design, technology and human behavior. You will be tasked with creating the next generation in On’s retail environments.
Your Mission
- Design On stores, guiding them from an empty shell to a fully realized fit-out, while ensuring consistent adherence to the On brand, aesthetic, and architectural identity.
- Deliver comprehensive conceptual and schematic designs, covering zoning, preliminary studies, modeling, render visualization, and presentations.
- Prepare internal approval presentations, incorporating 3D Interior Renderings, Sample Boards, and Storefront Elevations when necessary.
- Collaborate with external design agencies, local architects, general contractors, and other suppliers to uphold On's retail standards.
- Review and verify design drawings to ensure adherence to the design intent by assigned architects. .
- Work closely with Project Managers on each project, developing solutions for construction and scheduling challenges.
- Coordinate with various internal departments, including Construction Managers, Retail Operations, Visual Experience (VM), Retail Technology, and IT, to ensure flawless project completion.
- Conduct on-site observations when required.
Your story
- Degree and 8+ years in architectural or design field, with at least 5 in retail industry
- Inspiring leader with minimum 5 years managing & fostering a creative culture
- Experience working with multidisciplinary brand, marketing, construction teams, and diverse business stakeholders
- Proven track record of successful retail concept development or design lead role of key projects
- Expert in 2D/3D software: AutoCAD, Sketch-up, V-Ray, Adobe Suite, etc.
- Expert in detail-oriented construction and fixture development.
- Experience in building codes, accessibility regulations and other relevant construction constraints.
- Experience in fast-paced projects with the ability to manage consistently tight deadlines, multiple projects and deliverables.
- Efficient, confident and highly effective communicator, both written and verbal
