- Tokyo, Japan
- Full time
- Competitive
- 3rd April 2026
Full Description
In short
As the Senior Lead of Retail Merchandising for APAC (excluding China), you will be the operational and planning backbone of our retail business across Japan, Korea, Australia, and future expansion markets. In this role, you provide the critical data-driven regional input that shapes the overarching retail offer and assortment vision. Once the strategic direction is set, you own the execution: from detailed planning and OTB management to the end-to-end allocation and in-season trading that ensures our stores are always optimized for growth. This is a role for someone who thrives on commercial analytics and the science of retail inventory.
Your Mission
- Regional Strategic Input: Provide deep, data-driven insights into regional consumer behavior and market trends to influence the creation and localization of the seasonal retail offer
- Store Segmentation & Capacity Planning: Lead the regional store tiering and capacity strategy. Ensure that the "One-Stop Shop" vision is localized, defining store clusters to ensure the right depth of product reaches Flagships vs. Community hubs
- Commercial Planning & OTB Ownership: Own the regional Retail Open-to-Buy (OTB). You are responsible for the detailed planning and buy-execution, ensuring inventory levels are aligned with sales targets, protecting gross margins, and managing regional stock-turn
- Allocation & Replenishment Strategy: Architect the regional allocation logic. Ensure that once the offer is finalized, product is distributed effectively across the regional fleet to maximize full-price sell-through and minimize stock-outs.
- In-Season Trading & Optimization: Own the regional trading cadence. Lead the analysis of real-time store performance to drive commercial actions—including re-orders, regional stock transfers, and markdown strategies
- Retail Go-to-Market (GTM) Execution: Synchronize with Marketing, VM, and Store Ops to ensure the finalized product offer is executed flawlessly in-store, translating the high-level vision into tactical store-level plans
- Expansion & NSO Planning: Manage the planning and initial allocation for New Store Openings (NSOs). Ensure new locations are stocked with a balanced mix from day one to support successful market entries
Your story
- Experience: 5+ years in Retail Planning, Allocation, or Merchandising within a vertical or premium retailer. Experience managing multiple APAC markets (Japan/Korea/Australia) is highly preferred
- The Planning Specialist: Expert-level knowledge of OTB management, inventory lifecycle, and allocation systems. You find the "story" within the spreadsheets
- Retail Metrics Mastery: You speak the language of the store floor (WOS, ROS, GMROI) and understand how inventory flow impacts store team morale and customer experience
- Strategic Input, Operational Ownership: You are comfortable influencing the strategic direction with data while maintaining a rigorous focus on the details of daily retail trading
- Cross-Functional Connector: Proven ability to align diverse teams (Ops, VM, Finance) to ensure inventory strategies are supported on the floor
- Global Mindset: Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Japanese or Korean is a significant advantage
