We’re looking for a Senior Director of Content who lives at the intersection of sport, creators, and platform — someone who knows how to build social-first, creator-powered franchises that don’t just show up in feeds, but dominate them. This role requires instinctive fluency in how YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and emerging platforms reward content — and how to engineer short- and mid-form formats that cut through, scale fast, and drive global fandom.


This is a true player-coach role. Approximately 50% is hands-on — leading premium branded content and original IP from bold concepting through production, post, and performance-driven distribution. The other 50% is strategic leadership — developing repeatable formats, packaging talent, and harnessing real-time data to continuously optimize reach, retention, and revenue. You’ll oversee the full content lifecycle — from development and talent partnerships to launch and optimization — ensuring every franchise ladders up to Whistle’s voice, audience growth ambitions, and commercial goals. Working cross-functionally across Content, Social, Sales, Marketing, and Talent, you’ll help build scalable, high-impact sports IP that lives across platforms, fuels engagement, and converts fandom into measurable business impact.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead development and production of premium unscripted series and documentaries for Originals
  • Create and execute branded content in partnership with Sales, Brand Strategy, and Marketing
  • Integrate sponsored segments into original programming across platforms
  • Build and scale recurring franchises and social IP with strong platform optimization (YouTube-first focus)
  • Oversee athlete-driven mid-form (8–12 min) and short-form (:15–:60) content across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Snap, and emerging platforms
  • Manage end-to-end production: concepting, pitching, budgeting, staffing, production, post, and delivery
  • Hire and manage crews, budgets, schedules, and creative execution
  • Mentor producers, partners, and freelancers to maintain creative excellence
  • Partner with Talent + Social to develop creator-led formats
  • Use performance data and audience insights to optimize content and drive audience growth

What You'll Bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in social-first content, production, or digital media at a reputable agency, sports media company, or creator-driven publisher 
  • Experience creating, building, and executing best in class branded content with fortune 500 brands in the sports and entertainment industry. 
  • Proven track record as an Producer, Showrunner, or Senior Producer overseeing multiple premium or long-form series. 
  • Deep understanding of athlete-driven and creator-led formats, with experience working across YouTube, FAST, or streaming platforms (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.). With an extensive history of producing YouTube first formats and shows in all lengths from short form to mid form to feature. 
  • Strong relationships with agencies, talent reps, and production companies in sports and entertainment. 
    Exceptional creative judgment with the ability to identify and package culturally relevant IP 
  • Proven expertise in YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram algorithms, including how content is surfaced, recommended, and sustained over time 
  • Expertise in balancing editorial and commercial priorities — understanding how to integrate brands authentically into content. 
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once and ability to give clear notes and creative feedback in content production process. 
    Passion for sports, youth culture, and storytelling that bridges fans, athletes, and creators 
  • Strong understanding of format design, retention strategy, and audience behavior across platforms 
  • Comfortable representing content team on sales/marketing calls to explain creative 
  • Experience working with creative teams, particularly video editors and graphic designers, ideating and assigning topics, and providing feedback
