VP Legal

We are looking for our new commercially focused legal leader to support our Italian market. As VP Legal, you will act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, providing pragmatic legal guidance aligned with Group strategy and governance.

You will manage legal and regulatory risk, support strategic initiatives, and ensure compliance across the Italian market. Working closely with the Central Legal Team and key stakeholders, you will deliver timely, practical advice and escalate material issues where appropriate.

This is a high-impact, autonomous role with close collaboration across Group Legal, including the Chief Legal Officer.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead legal support for the Italian market and act as key advisor to the local leadership team 
• Identify and assess legal risks, providing clear, pragmatic guidance on business decisions 
• Deliver commercially focused legal advice on partnerships, agreements, content, distribution, and technology initiatives 
• Partner with business stakeholders to support strategic projects while managing legal risk 
• Monitor and manage legal and regulatory risk, including engagement with regulators and handling investigations or enforcement matters 
• Ensure material legal issues are effectively communicated within Group Legal 
• Oversee day-to-day legal operations and manage external counsel, ensuring quality, consistency, and cost control 
• Maintain alignment with Group policies, governance standards, and wider legal priorities 
• Collaborate with the Central Legal Team on cross-border matters 
• Support development of legal capability and scalable processes within the Italian business

What You'll Bring:

Technical Skills

•  Strong experience in commercial contracts, compliance, and regulatory frameworks in multinational environments 
•  Knowledge of corporate governance and company law (desirable) 
•  Familiarity with legal technology and AI tools to enhance efficiency and quality 

Soft Skills

•  Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills 
•  Ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex organisations 
• Fluent language skills in Italian and English

Leadership

•  Proven ability to operate as a senior in-house lawyer 
•  Capable of managing diverse legal matters independently while aligning with central teams 

Experience

•  Significant senior legal experience within multinational organisations 
•  Exposure to cross-border transactions and regulatory environments 
•  Experience advising at country, regional, or business unit level (preferred) 
•  Prior in-house experience advantageous 

Education

•  Law degree (or equivalent) and qualification to practise in Italy (e.g. Italian Bar) 
•  Additional qualifications (e.g. MBA) are a plus
