Job purpose
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and knowledgeable Customs Compliance Analyst to support and strengthen our international trade operations. This role is critical in ensuring the company’s adherence to all applicable customs laws, regulations, and procedures, with a particular focus on compliance with the CAFTA-DR (Central America-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement). The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and monitoring import and export activities, reviewing trade documentation, validating country of origin and tariff classifications, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners to ensure accurate and timely customs declarations. This position requires a solid understanding of international trade regulations, risk management, and free trade agreement benefits, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced global environment. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential to effectively support audits, maintain trade compliance records, and contribute to the continuous improvement of trade compliance processes.
Duties and responsibilities
- Interpret and apply CAFTA-DR rules of origin to apparel and textile imports and exports.
- Conduct internal audits and review documentation to ensure compliance with trade agreements and U.S. Customs requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and provide guidance on updates related to CAFTA, U.S. Customs, and other applicable trade laws.
- Work with Global Trade Compliance, sourcing, legal, and logistics departments to resolve compliance issues and minimize risk.
- Maintain and organize records of certifications, origin determinations, and audit findings.
Business Approach
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal and external partners.
- Excellent communication skills, presentation skills, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with CAFTA, especially as it relates to apparel and textiles.
- Solid understanding of rules of origin, especially under U.S. FTAs.
- Experience conducting audits and reviewing production documentation
