Job Description
Fanatics is seeking a Staff Engineer with a front-end focus to join our Customer Experience Team. In this role, you'll lead the design and implementation of scalable, performant, and maintainable front-end systems that power highly personalized, responsive shopping experiences for millions of users. You will collaborate closely with product, UX, design, and backend teams, while leveraging your architectural expertise to guide the evolution of our front-end platform.
This role is ideal for engineers who are passionate about modern web technologies, design systems, performance optimization, and creating cohesive technical architectures for front-end applications.
What will you do
- Architect, design, and build complex front-end systems using modern JavaScript frameworks (React.js preferred) that are responsive, accessible, and scalable.
- Lead the development and maintenance of our design system, reusable component libraries, and front-end build pipelines.
- Collaborate on the definition and implementation of system architecture across the front-end and interface boundaries—establishing strong patterns for performance, state management, and scalability.
- Work closely with backend engineers to integrate APIs efficiently and define contracts that optimize front-end needs.
- Champion web performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices, using tools like Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and custom monitoring dashboards to track and improve real-user experiences.
- Drive the adoption of frontend engineering best practices, including testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and code review standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership through design reviews, pair programming, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Identify and resolve critical production issues impacting the front-end, using strong debugging and analytical skills.
- Contribute to long-term technical strategies, laying the groundwork for future scalability and development velocity.
- Maintain clear technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, decision records, and deployment guides.
Basic Qualifications
- Deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks like React.js (preferred), or Next.js, with an understanding of SSR, hydration, and bundling strategies.
- Strong knowledge of system design, micro-frontends, modular architectures, and distributed frontend systems.
- Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 (including modern pre-/post-processors, CSS-in-JS solutions).
- Experience integrating with RESTful and GraphQL APIs; familiarity with API design principles and contract-first development.
- Proficiency in web performance optimization techniques and tooling.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for front-end deployments, and familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Vercel.
- Familiarity with testing tools and practices for front-end applications (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
- 10+ years of software development experience, with a significant focus on front-end technologies and system architecture.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in-office a minimum of three days a week.
Location: Hyderabad, India
