THE OPPORTUNITY

Fanatics is searching for a Senior Royalty Accountant that will be part of its Collectibles Royalty and Revenue Share Team. The Royalty Accountant is responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting on royalty-related financial activities. This role involves working closely with international partners to ensures accurate calculations, timely reporting, and compliance with contractual obligations related to royalties. This team member will support the International company's Athlete and Brand partnership teams finance teams, legal departments, and external partners to handle royalty payments, reconciliations, and audits.

Core Responsibilities:

• Prepare royalty expense accruals based on revenue (ensure accurate calculation and classification on income statement,
• Prepare reconciliation of liabilities on balance sheet for assigned partner agreements.
• Analyze Minimum Guarantee payments and prepare any related shortfall calculations
• Prepare and analyze Licensees' royalty reporting for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the terms for reporting.
• Distribute royalty reports and statements to license partner and key stakeholders
• Resolve any inquiries and/or discrepancies on reporting and/or payments efficiently
• Review and interpret royalty agreements to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
• Collaborate with the legal team to address contractual obligations interpretations.
• Interface with FP&A on revenue and royalty expense forecasts and monthly/quarterly closing
• Assist licensee audit programs by providing documentation and explanations required by auditors
• Other Corporate Accounting support as needed

Customer Service / Collaboration:

• Able to research and respond promptly to all licensee and colleague inquiries and requests with accuracy and professionalism
• Positively impact the speed and ease for licensees to conduct business with the company
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, licensees, and colleagues, including complex royalty accounting issues, errors, or opportunities for improvement
• Formalize task documentation and standardize procedures across the department to facilitate cross-training across the team.
• Identify opportunities to streamline royalty accounting and reporting processes.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
• 4 – 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably with royalty accounting exposure (music, consumer products, publishing, etc.)
• Experience in a large scale ERP system, Oracle and D365 is a plus
• Exceptional attention to detail and proficiency in interpreting contracts
• A motivated self-starter with ability to excel at multi-tasking and staying organized
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookups, & other formulas)
• Strong analytic and problem solving skills
• Familiarity with royalty structures, contract management, and intellectual property concepts
• Ability to collaborate in European time zones
