The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Sport Competition Manager – Boxing to join our Sport team within the Operations division.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end planning, coordination and delivery of the Boxing competition at Glasgow 2026.
Working at the heart of Games delivery, you will lead all sport-specific planning and operations, ensuring full alignment with World Boxing (WBOX) regulations and Commonwealth Sport standards.
From Field of Play design and competition scheduling to workforce delivery and Games-time operations, you will ensure every aspect of the Boxing competition is delivered to the highest international standards – creating an exceptional experience for athletes, officials and spectators alike.
You’ll work closely with key partners including World Boxing, Boxing Scotland and Commonwealth Sport, helping to bring a world-class, athlete-centred competition to life.
Job Summary:
As Sport Competition Manager – Boxing, you will lead the planning and delivery of all Boxing competition operations, ensuring seamless integration across venues, functional areas and Games-time activities. You will play a central role in creating a high-performance competition environment, overseeing all aspects of delivery from early technical planning through to live competition operations.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Boxing delivery plan, including key milestones, technical requirements and integration points across the Organising Committee. Working closely with venue, technology and wider functional teams, you will provide expert input into Field of Play design, warm-up areas, athlete flows and technical infrastructure, ensuring all elements meet international standards. You will oversee both competition and training venue operations, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality delivery aligned with World Boxing (WBOX) regulations.
The role will also involve leading the development of competition schedules and contributing to the Detailed Competition and Activity Schedule (DCAS), while coordinating stakeholder engagement including WBOX site visits and collaboration with Boxing Scotland and Commonwealth Sport Associations. You will support the appointment and coordination of Technical Officials and lead the recruitment, training and deployment of volunteers supporting the Boxing competition.
In addition, you will line manage Sport Coordinator(s) and Technical Operations Manager(s), ensuring team readiness, performance and development. You will contribute to test events and Games-wide readiness activity, provide regular reporting on progress, risks and dependencies, and support the creation of Transfer of Knowledge documentation. This is a highly visible and fast-paced role requiring strong leadership, technical expertise and the ability to deliver under pressure.
Key Skills and Experience:
We are looking for an experienced sport professional with a strong track record in the planning and delivery of Boxing competitions, ideally within major events or multi-sport environments. You will bring in-depth knowledge of World Boxing (WBOX) regulations, competition formats and technical operations, alongside experience of delivering within complex, high-profile sporting environments.
You will have proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including both staff and volunteers, and demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with International Federations, National Governing Bodies and other key partners. You will be highly organised, with excellent planning and problem-solving capabilities, and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
A confident and effective communicator, you will be comfortable working across functional areas and contributing to integrated operational delivery. You will also have strong digital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with sport competition management systems.
Experience within Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games or similar major event environments would be advantageous, as would knowledge of inclusive competition planning, Games-time scheduling, test events and Field of Play overlay. Above all, you will bring a collaborative, resilient and proactive approach, aligned with the values and ambitions of Glasgow 2026.

Salary: Starting salary is from £45,000. Salary offered will be based on demonstrated skills and experience related to this role.
