Job Description

Wasserman Marketing is looking for a motivated marketer to join the Brands Retainer Client team. This individual will be responsible for supporting brand clients in developing their respective brand strategies through development of a robust network of national marketing and sports property partnerships. From strategy through valuation, negotiation, contracting, and financial forecasting, this individual will support the clients’ portfolio of sports and venue partners through their respective live cycles.

This position is expected to consistently provide excellent customer service, as well as represent client needs and goals within the organization to ensure quality. This position will assist with the day-to-day management and leadership of other team members.

While this position is based in Wasserman’s Raleigh, NC office, we are open to candidates who would work remotely.This position will be expected to work standard, Eastern Time Zone business hours with expanded hours and travel as needed.

Duties: 

  • Leads day-to-day management of select vertical partnership(s) – overseeing fulfillment of contracted assets, creative briefing and approvals, executing key client activations, and fielding incoming requests.
  • Manages brand integration; Leads the development, planning, and implementation of brand strategies that delivers against / exceeds client objectives by performing research and analysis, providing data-based recommendations and reporting on marketing initiatives.
  • Maintains positive interagency relationships; works with outside agencies and partners to provide strong client service, set proper expectations and ensure smooth execution of all client programs.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with key stakeholders to ensure all parties receive appropriate attention, support, and ensures Wasserman is in lock-step with the client’s plans as it relates to the growth and strategy changes.
  • Understands the landscape for each client’s business as well as the industry contexts for their investments.  Builds cutting edge strategic plans for clients to meet and exceed objectives.
  • Builds strong relationships with clients to encourage new and repeat business opportunities.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert including all partnership creative guidelines and other activation guardrails to ensure efficient execution of all partnership marketing activities.
  • Monitors media, trends and changing sports & entertainment landscape to keep client executives and other team members are up to date on the industry.
  • Uses forward thinking initiative to proactively identify the next best strategic opportunities and continue to deliver top results to the client. 
  • Manages client communications, conflict resolution, and compliance on client deliverables.
  • Ensures that all processes and procedures are completed and quality standards are met.
  • Leads team members in client service, relationship development, and project management.
  • Assists senior leadership in the onboarding, supervision, training, and professional development of team members
  • Acts as a Wasserman ambassador, effectively communicating all company capabilities and services to the client
  • Part of new client pitches and plays a role in responding to RFPs.
  • Ongoing focus on business development and new revenue opportunities with existing clients and potential clients.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Required minimum 3 years of direct account and project management (preferably in the sports or entertainment field)
  • Experience in brand or marketing strategy a plus
  • Experience in Soccer / Women’s soccer a plus
  • Robust understanding of sports property, rights, and media landscape
  • Effective contract negotiation skills and familiarity with contract development
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based project management tools; advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel for deck development and budget management.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with people of all demographics.
  • Requires self-management, including the ability to ability to assess a situation and quickly implement solutions.
  • Must be able to multi-task and be flexible enough to react under stressful circumstances.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Motivated, goal oriented, persistent and a skilled negotiator.
  • High level of initiative and works well independently and in a team environment.
  • Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
