Full Description
The Photo Retouching Manager oversees the retouching process for football images featured in Topps collectible trading cards and stickers. The role manages retouching resource, while also collaborating with creative and prepress teams to deliver retouched picture assets. This position is responsible for ensuring high quality and efficiency while meeting deadlines and client expectations within a growing portfolio that includes Bundesliga, English Premier League, and UEFA. This is a full time role, in the designated office 5 days per week.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee and manage a team of retouchers, in-house and external, to deliver a growing portfolio of sports licences.
Develop and implement efficient workflows for photo retouching that optimize quality and turnaround times.
Review and approve retouched images to ensure they meet brand standards and client specifications.
Keep abreast of the latest retouching techniques, software developments, and industry trends, aligning with initiatives from the US retouching team.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver compelling visual assets.
Identify and resolve technical and creative or licensor issues that may arise during the retouching process.
Set standards for file structure/layer order for consistency and efficiency on revision rounds.
Continuously seek ways to improve retouching processes and optimize workflow.
Skills & Abilities
Possess advanced retouching skills in software like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and other industry-standard tools.
Expertly handle image correction, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all images.
Be proficient in various image manipulation techniques, including compositing, background removal, and object manipulation.
Specialist knowledge of anatomy, lighting, proportion and perspective.
Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all final images meet the highest quality standards and are in-line with brand guidelines.
Clearly communicate with the retouching team, creative teams, and clients, and can lead, motivate, and manage contributors.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent in related field.
At least 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of managing large programmes.
- Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and other relevant software.
- Strong portfolio showcasing retouching skills.
In-depth knowledge of professional sports, historical and current, particularly Bundesliga, Premier League, UEFA domestic and international competitions.
