Role Purpose:
This role is a 6 month contract.
The Retail Events Operations Lead is a key support role within the Fanatics Australian IVR team, assisting in the delivery of exceptional retail and event day experiences across multiple sporting partners within the AFL and NRL.
This role in collaboration with Retail Leadership, Store Manager and the Store Team will support the operations of the ROAR Store, while also coordinating the execution of retail activations for Melbourne Storm match days at AAMI Park during the NRL season. The Retail Events Operations Lead plays an important part in creating high-quality fan engagement experiences through professional retail operations, both in-store and on event days.
The position requires a flexible working schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and public holidays. Interstate travel may also be required to support key events and matches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily operations of the ROAR Store, acting as Manager when required.
- Lead the set-up, coordination and execution of Melbourne Storm retail activations at AAMI Park on NRL match days.
- Support the achievement of sales and customer service targets across both store and event locations.
- Coordinate match day retail staff, stock distribution, point-of-sale setups, and post-event pack down.
- Support stock management processes including inventory control, replenishment, and event-day logistics.
- Deliver high levels of customer service, ensuring fans receive a positive shopping experience across all touchpoints.
- Support in training and assist casual and match day staff to meet performance and service standards.
- Work with the Store Manager, Retail Operations Manager and wider Fanatics IVR Team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Represent our AFL and NRL partners in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Essential:
- Previous experience in a retail environment at a supervisory, senior sales assistant, or team leader level.
- Experience coordinating or supporting retail operations during live events (preferred).
- Strong understanding of retail operations, customer service delivery, and sales targets.
- Ability to work flexibly across weekdays and weekends, including evenings and public holidays.
- Highly organised with good time management skills.
- A passion for Australian sport, particularly AFL and NRL.
Desirable:
- Experience with licensed merchandise or sports-related retail.
- Previous experience in event day retail activations (e.g., stadiums, fan zones, pop-up shops).
- Understanding of basic financial and inventory reporting processes.
Skills and Attributes:
- Energetic and positive approach with a commitment to excellent service.
- Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proactive and willing to step into leadership roles when required.
