Job Description

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As Prepress Operator, you will be responsible for processing customer art files, pre-flighting jobs, preparing proofs, preparing items & production orders, and assisting with commercial large format print jobs.

Responsibilities:

• Accept incoming jobs that require print production.
• Preflight all incoming digital files to ensure the most accurate reproduction based on customer expectations.
• Make simple adjustments, when necessary, to support workflow timing.
• Create online proof to be uploaded into our MIS software – Quest.
• Provide constant analysis and improvement of current preflight and prepress standards against evolving industry standards.
• Maintain proper calibration of digital equipment to industry standards utilizing modern RIP and color calibration equipment.
• Coordinate with other managers concerning schedules and deadlines, ensuring a smooth workflow.
• Proof all jobs for accuracy, content, color, size, and production requirements.
• Aids the graphic production team as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED

• 3 – 5 years of print production experience.
• Experience with color printing, dye sublimation printing, UV printing, and large format printing.
• Must have Caldera/Workflow software knowledge.
• Experienced in current design and page layout software.
• File prep and "fixing" for print-ready status - pre-flighting, layering, knockout, trapping, and overprints.
• Ability to handle complex large format projects.  A high-level organization must be utilized.
• Experience with Color Management rules and methodologies adhering to industry color standards.
• Knowledge of ICC profiling, press profiling, and color gamut limitations are a bonus – this can be trained to new staff.
• Exceptional Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
• Willingness to learn new skills and train others on these skills as they are incorporated into the workflow.
• Self-driven growth activity in the modern design and print market via forums, magazines, or memberships to grow with developing technologies and strategies.
