WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

As a Performance Lead within the NSRL London, you will act as the link between the Research Lab and Sports Marketing to support the performance services offered to our elite level teams and athletes. You will also carry out sports science research in both the NSRL and field settings to help advance athlete performance knowledge and practices in elite sport and provide key insights for product solutions across the footwear, apparel, equipment, and digital innovation teams.

This role will require an appropriate level of sports science and/or applied human performance knowledge and research capability. It will also require experience working with elite athletes and interdisciplinary staff in a high-performance setting.

The position will require flexibility in meeting times to connect with the team at WHQ, as well as occasional domestic and international travel. 

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will support the delivery of the performance services strategy defined by the team at WHQ to our elite level teams and athletesacross EMEA in partnership with Sports Marketing. You will also manage projects and initiatives focused on advancing knowledge of athlete performance. This will require experience managing all phases of a project with multiple groups involved, including briefing, planning, execution, data analysis, and presentation. You will be expected to promote the work and image of the NSRL group externally to the performance science community.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

Reporting into the Performance Services Director, you will be based in the NSRL London office and work as part of the Applied Performance Innovation team within the NSRL at WHQ. In this role, you will serve as a link to Sports Marketing and Brand to support the performance services offered to our elite level teams and athletes across EMEA.  You will also work across groups in the NSRL and Advanced Innovation (AIC) to leverage insights that will to help inform the design and development of Nike products and services.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Masters level degree in Sport or Exercise Science or related field with at least 4 years experience working with elite level athletes and/or teams
  • Sport-and athlete-related certifications (such as Strength & Conditioning, Physical Therapy, Sports Dietetics, Sports Psychology, or other athlete related needs)
  • Statistical background in categorizing and applying data collected in both lab and field settings
  • Extensive experience with data collections tools commonly used in the performance science environment
  • Ability to interpret complex data and provide reports and recommendations to athletes and coaches visually and effectively
  • Experience being a creative scientist (e.g. novel protocols, processing techniques, communications, or applications and translations)
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bias towards growth mindset, and action and resilience in the face of adversity or ambiguity
  • Tendency towards curiosity and exploration of possibilities 
  • Ability to take on team-centric attitude within a dynamic workplace environment
