Full Description
The Marketing Manager leads marketing in Japan. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and executing marketing strategies for our products, event and project specifically MLB/Ohtani related. Additionally, this role will be pivotal in creating the Japan exclusive item marketing strategy to establish and grow the hobby market in Japan. The key responsibilities are:
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement effective marketing plans and brand strategies for mass market products and the emerging hobby market.
- Create and execute a forward-looking hobby market marketing strategy to establish and grow the hobby market in Japan.
- Manage all elements of consumer marketing/promotions, including consumer research and analysis, advertising, trade promotion, online marketing, financial analysis, and budget management.
Event and Project Management:
- Organize and execute large-scale audience-focused events across multiple cities in the GSA region.
- Develop project teams, outlining critical paths, timelines, and deliverables to ensure timely and effective execution of marketing initiatives.
Content and Social Media Management:
- Oversee the development of engaging content for Topps' social media channels, working closely with the Social Media Manager and creative teams.
- Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines and marketing objectives, utilizing influencer marketing to increase reach and engagement.
Relationship and Partnership Management:
- Develop and maintain relationships with high-profile partners such as football governing bodies, football clubs, and brand partners.
- Explore new opportunities to collaborate with brand partners and organizations to extend the reach of all collections.
Budget and Financial Management:
- Accurately manage the promotional and advertising spend for each collection, ensuring alignment with the budget.
- Work with sales teams in the GSA region to develop retail plans for each product, ensuring maximum market penetration and sales growth.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal and external teams, including agencies and suppliers, to execute marketing activities effectively.
- Manage PR, online, and media agencies to develop cost-effective ideas that promote the company and its products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of marketing experience in sports/entertainment or relevant consumer products
- Proven track record of delivering successful marketing campaigns and leading marketing teams.
- Strong passion for and comprehensive knowledge of sports.
- Self-confident, energetic, proactive, organized, highly detailed, and goal-oriented.
- Strong influencing, communication, and interpersonal skills with a ‘can-do' mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously in a fast-paced team environment.
- Proven ability to multitask, juggle multiple projects, and effectively determine priorities.
- Experience working with an international, decentralized team.
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and results-oriented.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically while also being able to execute flawlessly.
- Fluent in Japanese and English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for an international company.
- Personal affinity with or direct experience in collectible sports and entertainment products.
