LA 2028 is a non-profit public benefit corporation. The specific purpose of the organization is to improve and enhance the quality of life of the residents of the City of Los Angeles, California, and the surrounding metropolitan area through the hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. Its core activities include: (1) planning, organization, financing, promotion, sponsorship, hosting and staging the Games, (2) raising funds to be used to plan, organize, finance, promote, sponsor, host or stage the Games, and (3) creating and implementing sustainability and legacy programs for the Games.
United States Olympic and Paralympic Properties (USOPP) is a commercial joint venture between the Los Angeles Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2028 (LA 2028) and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). The USOPP is the sole entity charged with marketing and selling combined commercial assets, including; rights to the 2022, 2024, 2026 and 2028 U.S Olympic and Paralympic Teams and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
Manager, Brand Design - Guidelines & Governance Job Description:
The Brand Design (BDL) team is responsible for overseeing the development and management of all LA28 visual brand IP. The LA28 brand identity is the first-ever variable Olympic and Paralympic logo and has an ever-expanding inventory of design assets. Along with developing and managing the core identity, the BDL team is responsible for marquee Games design deliverables such as core graphic, pictograms, and torch in addition to internal creative services.
The Manager, Brand Design – Guidelines & Governance will be responsible for developing and managing the brand identity guidelines, governance processes, and stakeholder onboarding for the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games. This role ensures that all internal and external stakeholders—including partners, sponsors, licensees, and broadcasters—adhere to LA28's visual identity, emblem usage, and milestone branding across all touchpoints.
Reporting to the Head of Brand Design, the ideal candidate is a strategic, detail-oriented brand steward with experience in brand guidelines development, visual identity governance, and large-scale stakeholder management. This role will collaborate across creative, marketing, legal, licensing, partnerships, and operations to create comprehensive brand toolkits and ensure global consistency in execution.
Job Responsibilities:
· Brand Guidelines & Governance
- Lead the development and ongoing management of the LA28 Brand Guidelines, ensuring clarity in the application of emblems, typography, color, imagery, and key brand assets.
- Develop and implement milestone-specific guidelines (e.g., torch relay, mascot, medals, venue branding) to maintain brand consistency across the Games lifecycle.
- Establish and manage a brand governance framework that ensures compliance across sponsors, broadcasters, licensees, and internal teams.
- Regularly audit brand application across various platforms to ensure consistency and adherence to guidelines.
· Stakeholder Brand Onboarding & Training
- Lead the onboarding process for internal and external stakeholders, educating them on LA28's brand philosophy, visual identity, and design standards.
- Create and maintain brand toolkits and training materials, ensuring easy adoption of the LA28 brand system.
- Provide ongoing support, consultation, and approvals to ensure correct brand application by partners, vendors, and agencies.
- Stakeholder IP & Toolkits
- Develop and distribute comprehensive brand toolkits that cover intellectual property (IP) usage, emblem applications, and co-branding guidelines.
- Work closely with legal and partnerships teams to oversee the correct usage of LA28's trademarks and visual assets.
- Manage updates and distribution of brand assets and templates, ensuring accessibility for all stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in brand identity management, design governance, or creative operations, preferably within sports, entertainment, or global events.
- Strong expertise in brand guidelines development, stakeholder engagement, and IP/trademark governance.
- Expert knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and brand asset management tools.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to balance long-term strategic planning with day-to-day execution.
- Experience working cross-functionally with legal, partnerships, licensing, and marketing teams.
- Passion for sports, branding, and the Olympic & Paralympic movement.

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
