Head of Delivery (Enterprise Technology)

Reports to: Group Director Enterprise Technology

Location: UK / Ireland - Travel required

Role purpose:

As part of the Enterprise Technology function in Flutter Group, the Head of Delivery will lead a team of delivery professionals to expand and enhance the delivery capabilities of our Enterprise Technology teams, covering Busines Systems, Enterprise IT, and AI & Automation.

In collaboration with the Group Director Enterprise Technology, you will transform ways of working and the role of agile Delivery. By working closely with Heads of Architecture and Engineering you will ensure effective collaboration between Product, Delivery, Engineering, and Service, to stay aligned on delivery techniques and continuous improvement opportunities. Your role will work closely with other senior contributors to ensure our products and services are being delivered in alignment with our Enterprise Technology vision and strategy, and ultimately driving value.

Accountabilities:

  • Form an integral part of the Group Enterprise Technology leadership team.
  • Define and implement a strategy that ensures consistent, predictable, and high-quality delivery of initiatives, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Partner with senior leaders to ensure the operationalisation and continuous improvement of product-aligned ways of working in the Enterprise Technology function.
  • Identify and optimally embed robust, scalable tools to evaluate, lead, measure, and communicate the health and sufficiency of the delivery lifecycle.
  • Coordinate risk and issue management relating to the delivery of initiatives, ensuring teams adapt to changes in circumstance.
  • Serve as a senior conduit to senior stakeholders, up to and including C-suite, to ensure alignment between vision, mission and outcomes.
  • Lead a diverse team of Planning and Delivery specialists, committed to delivering value and ensure the optimisation of prioritisation and capacity.
  • Coach and mentor team members providing opportunities for each to learn and grow.
  • Leverage relationships with internal and external peers, to foster and advise the evolution of our agile practice.
  • Recruit and induct top talent.
  • Partner with Group Directors and peers in the leadership team to achieve the Enterprise Technology purpose.
  • Contribute to the delivery and product community, establishing meaningful relationships and defining appropriate delivery standards, best practices, and ways of working, across the Flutter Group.

Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of operating in a senior role within a fast-paced global online/eCommerce organization, ideally one with a multi-divisional structure.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading a delivery and/or product capability and successfully enabling continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrable experience of creating effective long-term strategies and successfully implementing them.
  • Extensive experience of internal and external partner management, supported by excellent verbal and written communication skills with a style that can flex according to the audience. The Head of Delivery will be required to develop excellent working relationships with key collaborators up to and including C-suite members.
  • Experience of recruiting and developing talent.
  • Experience of making well-informed, data-driven and timely decisions.
  • Experience of simplifying situations and demonstrating creative thinking to assess alternatives that lead to the most effective solution to the problem.
  • Excellent understanding and appreciation of the technology market, latest trends, ways of working.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise tooling and services, such as ERP (e.g. Oracle), HR (e.g. Workday), AI/Automation and digital workplace, is desirable.
