The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Games Services and Workforce team as Fleet Manager, a pivotal role within the Operations Division.
As Fleet Manager, you’ll lead the operational planning, delivery, and management of the Games’ vehicle fleet — supporting the movement of athletes, technical officials, dignitaries, media, and workforce across Glasgow and beyond. From procurement and branding to distribution, servicing, fuelling, and Games-time operations, you’ll oversee the full vehicle lifecycle to ensure every journey runs safely, efficiently, and on time.
Working closely with the wider Transport team and external suppliers, you’ll ensure every vehicle is safe, available, and fit for purpose. You’ll also play a key role in leading the recruitment, rostering, training, and deployment of the Games-time driver workforce, ensuring operational readiness at every stage.
This is a senior, hands-on operational role with high visibility and real impact — the chance to shape one of the most important logistical operations of Glasgow 2026.
You’ll be the key point of contact for multiple stakeholders, coordinating delivery partners, suppliers, and internal functions to ensure every detail aligns with the Games’ standards, policies, and safety protocols.
This is your chance to work at the heart of a world-class event, collaborating with passionate professionals and visionary leaders to showcase Glasgow on the global stage.
Job Summary:
As Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of the Glasgow 2026 vehicle fleet. This includes coordinating procurement, vehicle allocation, maintenance, driver workforce planning, and Games-time service delivery. You’ll lead a core team, manage external suppliers, and develop robust systems and processes to ensure an efficient and high-performing fleet operation throughout the Games lifecycle.
You’ll oversee the creation and implementation of the Fleet Operations Plan, managing vehicle supply and maintenance contracts, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and branding requirements. You’ll monitor real-time vehicle usage and availability, oversee the operation of the Fleet Command Centre during Games-time, and ensure all vehicles are tracked and logged through approved systems.
Collaboration will be key — you’ll work closely with Accreditation, Security, Logistics, and Venue Transport teams to align operational procedures and access protocols. You’ll also lead readiness activities, including tabletop exercises and testing, and contribute to decommissioning and reporting after the Games.
This is a highly dynamic role that demands attention to detail, strategic thinking, and calm leadership under pressure. Every decision you make will help keep Glasgow 2026 moving.
Key Skills and Experience:
We’re looking for an experienced fleet operations professional with a track record of delivering transport or logistics programmes in fast-paced, complex environments. You’ll have strong leadership skills, with experience managing suppliers, contracts, and operational teams under pressure while maintaining high safety and service standards.
A solid understanding of driver management, vehicle tracking systems, scheduling, and maintenance planning is essential. You should also be comfortable with procurement processes, supplier coordination, and compliance monitoring. Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills are a must, alongside the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across operations, workforce, and security.
Experience working with operational planning tools and real-time reporting systems will be valuable, as will the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours during Games-time.
