The Role
We are looking for an Emerging Talent Goalkeeper Scout in the Midlands/North UK regions on a casual basis to support our Emerging Talent team in identifying and recruiting the best youth goalkeeping talent across the U12-U21 age bracket, encompassing both youth and first-team football.
You'll be entrusted to provide consistent live and video coverage of specified fixtures, focusing on goalkeepers as directed by your line manager. You will produce detailed and insightful reports on goalkeepers, contributing to our club's scouting database and highlighting key candidates for inclusion within a shadow squad.
Who we are
Your day-to-day
- Provide player recommendations - you'll identify, monitor and recommend goalkeeping prospects aged U12-U21, with a primary focus on the U12-U16 age groups, through live and video scouting
- Maintain crucial documentation - you will diligently contribute goalkeeper-specific insights to live succession planning documents, supporting goalkeeper development pathways across our club
- Deliver impactful evaluations - you'll compile technical, tactical, physical and psychological evaluations of goalkeepers using relevant scouting platforms and data systems
- Plan and prioritise matches - you'll plan and prioritise fixture coverage in coordination with your line manager and you will be prepared to travel both domestically and internationally to cover matches and tournaments and you will update all scouting reports onto scouting platfoms within 48 hours of attending a live fixture
- Uphold our high standards - champion our scouting best practices, adhering to our club's values, safeguarding standards and relevant regulations when engaging with players, parents, clubs and agents
- Keep abreast of talent across the region - you proudly maintain up-to-date knowledge of all top goalkeepers and high-potential prospects in the U12-U21 age group across the Midlands and North UK regions, continually reviewing and enhancing understanding of goalkeeper talent
- Stay informed on our club goalkeepers - you'll build and hold an excellent awareness of our club's current goalkeepers across all age groups
- Act as an ambassador for our club - you will promote a positive market identity of our club with agents, representatives, clubs, federations, families and all key stakeholders and you'll understand and comply fully with the rules and code of conduct for scouts and approach recruitment with the utmost adherence to our club's values
What we are looking for
- Knowledge of the academy landscape - you're equipped with an exceptional understanding of academy football players, along with the accompanying rules and regulations that come with identifying and recruiting them
- Deep understanding of goalkeeping - you come with a thorough grasp of goalkeeper development stages and modern performance demands and a proven ability to assess goalkeepers across technical, tactical, physical and psychological dimensions
- Credible expertise - you hold an FA Talent ID Level 2, Goalkeeping License and FA Safeguarding Children Certificate
- Broad awareness of goalkeeper talent - you've got an exceptional knowledge of goalkeeper-specific talent within regional and national academy systems and a clear comprehension of the goalkeeper profile required in each age bracket, in line with our game model and recruitment strategy
- Best-in-class communicator - you pride yourself on your ability to communicate clearly and openly with a range of stakeholders, both in writing and orally, tailoring your approach as necessary
- Competent IT skills - you're able to write detailed reports on our database and quickly get up to speed with the various platforms and systems our Emerging Talent Scouts work with
- Valid driving licence - you're easily able to travel for fixtures and meetings in order to fulfil the requirements of this casual position
- Proud ambassador for our club - you're able to act as a representative of our Academy and carry yourself with a high level of discretion and professionalism when observing, engaging and reporting and you are sensitive to the needs of young players, parents/guardians and grassroots clubs
Please note: This casual position will require frequent travel and the ability to work across weekday evenings and weekends on a regular basis
