The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.
LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. Director, Economic Impact & Strategic Sourcing:
The Director of Economic Impact & Strategic Sourcing will oversee LA28's Strategic Sourcing organization and will play a key role in planning and executing a meaningful and positive economic impact on small and diverse suppliers throughout the Los Angeles region. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer of LA28 and will drive consistency, quality and efficiency in Sourcing activities across all areas of the organization committed to delivering the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy a Strategic Sourcing process that will have a meaningful and positive economic impact on the diverse supplier and partner communities throughout the Los Angeles region.
- Serve as the outward facing lead in promoting Sourcing opportunities in the community.
- Increase outreach to the business community, increase overall participation in Sourcing events, encourage new players to participate and increase supplier diversity.
- Integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles into every stage of the sourcing process, ensuring equitable access for diverse suppliers and fostering meaningful partnerships that reflect the values of the Los Angeles community.
- Establish the LA28 sourcing process as a best-in class, accessible and transparent for all suppliers.
- Promote efforts to build capacity among emerging business enterprises.
- Drive outcomes that improve the timeliness, quality and consistency, and efficiency of Sourcing.
- Drive data-informed decision making in LA28's Sourcing by assessing and determining technology needs to support Sourcing processes.
- Develop transparency, metrics and reporting into LA28's performance in setting and meeting local and diverse supplier goals.
- Develop the Strategic Sourcing team into a strategic business partner model that is service oriented, proactive and advisory in assisting internal stakeholders to meet current and future Sourcing needs.
- Incorporate LA28 strategic goals, including sustainability, impact, legacy and fiscal discipline, into the Sourcing process.
Background and Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in Sourcing and 7+ years of senior-level managerial experience in the development, implementation, and management of Sourcing policies and procedures, or relevant experience.
- Understanding of the applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing Sourcing.
- Experience making presentations before the public, government bodies, and other agencies.
- Desired experience with the administration of Requests for Proposals for construction and professional services and Requests for Bids for goods and services.
- Desired familiarity with public sector purchasing and Sourcing rules, regulations and requirements.
- Desired experience with managing stakeholder relationships and community engagement.
- Demonstrated ability as an effective communicator with highly effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively convey LA28's strategic imperatives to motivate and align employee behaviors and actions, and to effectively communicate business performance and direction to the Board and stakeholders.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- On-site, hybrid (4 days a week) to start.
- Must be able to relocate to the Los Angeles, California area.
- Able to work at night or on weekends when necessary

Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Strategic Sourcing certification
The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000.00 - $170,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
