Deputy Head of Technology (IT Operations and Governance)
Contract: Full time, permanent
Location: London, WC2A 1AN (with hybrid working flexibility)
Salary: £85,000 - £95,000
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is the governing and regulatory body for horseracing in Great Britain. It is the BHA’s role to act for and on behalf of the whole sport, ensuring that the highest standards apply on and away from the racecourse.
We are currently looking for a Deputy Head of Technology to join the IT department.
The Deputy Head of Technology (IT Operations and Governance) will lead the day-to-day IT function within the Technology Team, holding accountability for infrastructure and service desk delivery and responsibility for IT governance. The role is hands-on as well as managerial: the postholder works directly on governance, policy and controls while leading the teams responsible for infrastructure and service desk delivery.
The postholder will line-manage the Infrastructure Lead and the Service Desk Lead, setting direction and holding them accountable for delivery, while remaining a direct contributor on governance, risk, compliance and vendor management. The role is the senior operational IT post within the technology function, responsible for translating technology strategy into reliable, well-governed day-to-day IT service delivery.
The postholder is the designated deputy to the Head of Technology, providing continuity of technology leadership during planned and unplanned absence and representing the function where the Head of Technology is unavailable.
