POSITION SUMMARY
The team is seeking a talented Content & Marketing Partnership Professional for the distribution and monetization of the NBA's international programming portfolio across all media platforms and sports sponsorship and partnership in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Based in Hong Kong, the position requires an ambitious and versatile personality who will play a key role in augmenting the NBA's robust growth strategy to drive new business and renewal negotiations. The successful candidate will be responsible for searching leads, evaluate prospects feasibility, develop sales strategies, and convert prospects to partners. To proactively and aggressively grow NBA China's sponsorship and media revenue, the position requires a delicate mix of market understanding, salesmanship and hands-on operational ability in a competitive environment.
The candidate is expected to have extensive network in various industries, experience in marketing, expertise and knowledge in media sales, content distribution, sports marketing and sponsorship This person will work collaboratively with all NBA China and Asia departments, NBA headquarters and external prospects.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Play an important role to lead the NBA China's own marketing initiatives and partner marketing and promotions in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
- Identify, secure and foster strategic marketing alliances and contribute significantly to the financing of our major initiatives in the regions.
- Demonstrate experience and efficiency in media rights sales, including live and non-live rights packaging and delivery of content across all mediums.
- Responsible for delivering sales across each of the NBA's leagues, including both managing renewals and sourcing new business opportunities.
- Drive revenue growth through the creation of new sellable marketing programs, media inventory, identification of sales targets (i.e., key categories) and development of sales strategies.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and pitches to prospective media and marketing partners.
- Manage day-to-day business operations and team administration.
- Collaborate with Global Partnership and Media Distribution Leadership teams as well as other key colleagues to develop long-, mid- and short-term business goals and objectives for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
- Maintain highest level of partner satisfaction and relationships through day-to-day account support and management.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external constituents.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- 8+ experience in content distribution, sponsorship, marketing, brand management and/or consumer promotions.
- Proven track record attaining revenue targets and building new partnerships in media rights sales and monetizing content through licensing negotiations and formation of partnerships, and willingness to integrate with Greater China culture with a strong strategic mind on business operations.
- Prior employment at a major studio, broadcaster, sports marketing agency or sports federation is a plus.
- A diligent attitude towards getting hard work done. This role will require someone who can prepare effectively, then execute autonomously.
- The successful candidate will be leading multiple conversations and work streams simultaneously, so having the ability to prioritize and manage time to deliver against goals will be critical to success.
- Success in originating, negotiating and closing significant partnership deals.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; ability to work well within a fast-paced and competitive environment.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, able to inspire and lead others and be a team player.
- A credible and persuasive communicator, with strong presentation and negotiation skills. Ability to build relationships with senior executives of current and future partners, and also with senior level executives within the organization.
- Experience in developing planning tools, budgets, projections, etc.
- Fluency in spoken and written English, Cantonese and Mandarin required.
- A passion for sports and interest in Basketball.
