The Role
Join our Media & Communications team bringing one of the UK’s largest multi-sport events to life. The Communications Coordinator, will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of Glasgow 2026’s communications strategy, helping to shape how the event is perceived by the public, media and stakeholders. This role sits at the heart of a fast-paced, busy press office, responsible for promoting 11 days of unforgettable competition and culture.
You will support the planning and execution of media relations, press engagement and public relations, helping to ensure consistent messaging, timely responses to media enquiries and the smooth coordination of communications materials across all channels.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities and a passion for sport and public relations.
Job Summary:
As Communications Coordinator, you will support the planning and delivery of media relations, press engagement and public relations activity, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels. From drafting press releases and managing media enquiries to coordinating events, you’ll help ensure Glasgow 2026’s voice is clear, engaging and impactful.
Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you’ll help align communications across departments, support preparing briefing materials for spokespeople and contribute to a positive, collaborative and inclusive culture. Your organisational skills and attention to detail will keep projects running smoothly, while your creativity and enthusiasm will help bring the spirit of Glasgow 2026 to life.
Key Skills and Experience:
To succeed in this role, you’ll have experience working in a press office, communications team or event environment, and be familiar with media engagement and public relations strategies. You will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, and the confidence to work effectively with media, stakeholders and internal teams.
A degree in Communications, PR, Journalism or equivalent professional experience is essential. A passion for sport, community engagement, and experience supporting large-scale events or multi-agency communications will be advantageous.

Salary: Starting salary is from £25,000. Salary offered will be based on demonstrated skills and experience related to this role.
