City Transport Manager

Rugby World Cup Australia is looking for an experienced City Transport Manager to join the team!Based in our Sydney office and reporting to the Transport Operations Manager, you will lead the planning and delivery of transport operations across training sites, team hotels and other non-competition venues within your assigned host city. Working closely with venue teams, transport providers, local authorities and government stakeholders, you will ensure transport services are safe, efficient and ready to perform when the tournament arrives.

This is a highly visible role that combines strategic planning with hands-on operational delivery. You will develop transport operational plans, manage parking and vehicle access arrangements, coordinate key stakeholders and support the successful integration of transport services across the city. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead the planning and delivery of transport operations across team bases, tournament hotels, training sites, stadiums and other assigned venues within the host city.
• Develop and implement host city and venue transport operational plans, including parking management, loading zones, vehicle access permits (VAPs), transport procedures and operational readiness activities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with host city authorities, transport operators, venue partners, contractors and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless tournament delivery.
• Coordinate and oversee transport services for teams, match officials, workforce, volunteers, media and other accredited client groups, ensuring services are delivered safely and efficiently.
• Monitor service delivery, contractor performance and operational readiness, proactively identifying risks, implementing mitigation strategies and managing transport-related issues and incidents.
• Recruit, train and lead transport staff, coordinators and volunteers, working closely with Venue Managers and City Operations teams to deliver world-class tournament operations and service standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• 3 years experience in transport operations, logistics or major event delivery, ideally within sporting, entertainment or large-scale events in Australia.
• Experience developing and implementing transport operational plans, including traffic management, parking operations, venue access and stakeholder coordination.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships across local authorities, councils, venue operators, transport providers, contractors and internal teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and deliver operational outcomes against fixed deadlines and project milestones.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, with experience coordinating staff, volunteers and contractors in operational environments.
• Highly organised and detail-oriented, with strong analytical, problem-solving and project management capabilities and experience using Microsoft Office and relevant management systems.
• Knowledge of major event transport operations and Transport Management Systems (TMS) is desirable, along with experience managing on-the-ground venue or city-wide transport operations.
• Work flexibly outside of standard business hours including evenings and weekends during event periods.
