Job Description
What you will be doing:
Wasserman is seeking a proactive, senior and experienced individual to play a core role within the Wasserman Asia leadership team to be based in either Hong Kong or Singapore.
This person will be responsible for leading Strategy & Consulting work across APAC, delivering world class partnership strategies and acting as a senior trusted adviser to both new and existing clients. The role requires excellent client and team management skills, playing a senior advisory role to account leads.
Whilst you will work across the full breadth of partnerships, experience in Sport is essential and Gaming preferable. You will act as a senior voice in the region, and leverage your extensive connections and experience in the sponsorships industry to promote and build the Wasserman brand as the strategic partner of choice for brands across Asia.
Lead & Deliver Strategy Projects
- Review and interrogate client briefs to ensure full understanding of the business, brand, objectives and challenges.
- Undertake comprehensive diagnosis work to identify audience, brand, business, competitor, and sponsorship insights to inform the strategic approach.
- Design creative solutions that deliver against the strategic approach.
- Use your industry knowledge and the power of the Wasserman business and tools, including scorecards and valuation methodologies, to identify and objectively assess different partners, making strategically aligned recommendations to clients.
- Advise clients on measurement, effectiveness and KPI setting, and review their current partnerships’ performance to identify opportunities to improve.
- Ensure clients are effectively lead throughout the process.
- Work closely with Global Strategy & Consulting team in London for specialist skills (e.g. Research, Planning).
Business Development
- Oversee the - growth strategy for Strategy & Consulting services for the Wasserman Asia business, reporting into the Regional leadership team.
- Play a lead role in the development and presentation of client pitch proposals, working with experts from across the Wasserman global business, and our regional partners.
- Leverage the internal client network across Wasserman to drive incremental regional scopes.
- Proactively seek ways to positively PR Wasserman and our Brands and Properties services, so we are front of mind when opportunities present themselves.
- Unlock relationships with new brands and partners in the region through networking, events, speaker opportunities & targeted thought leadership communications.
- Work closely with our Wass colleagues across the world, to maximise and leverage global opportunities throughout Asia across sport, music and entertainment.
Client / Account Oversight
- Develop an excellent understanding of our existing client strategy and brand objectives, market and key competitor threats, identifying opportunities to deliver strategic work.
- Interrogate clients briefs, acting as an advocate for when Strategy & Consulting can unlock better outcomes for clients and commercial revenue for Wasserman.
Internal Communications
- Build strong relationships and foster good team spirit internally and amongst client teams and our partners.
- Draw upon senior experience from across the Wasserman business to optimise quality of work across all client accounts.
- Act as a conduit between the Global Strategy & Consulting team in London and Asia office, sharing insights, knowledge and news.
- Regularly share regional sponsorship industry knowledge and trends amongst the local and global teams.
Commercial Acumen & Business Development
- Identify opportunities for increased profitability across client work and areas for growth.
- Turn strategic projects into ongoing revenue for other areas of the Wasserman business, unlocking client lifetime value.
- Support on new business proposals, clearly articulating the value of strategy to clients.
Skills & Experience Required
- 10+ years working in a strategic & consulting capacity within the sponsorships industry
- Agency experience essential, with brand experience desirable
- Experience delivering end-to-end, multimarket sponsorship strategies essential
- Experience with global brands based in the region, rightsholders and government organizations desirable
- Demonstrable experience in leading and delivering multiple strategy projects at the same time, and able to hit the ground running in this role
- Experience in pitching and selling strategy projects
- Excellent client management skills - ability to manage senior clients and gain trust and respect of all stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possessing a ‘can-do’ attitude at all times
- Ability to work independently, supported by our Global Strategy & Consulting team in London
- Well versed in different research and data tools, and the ability to turn data and research into powerful insights
- Team leadership – ability to empower, delegate and inspire a team, promoting a positive & flexible team culture, and work across geographies and time zones
- Excellent presentation skills (both writing and delivery) internally and to clients
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written – and attention to detail
- Creative thinker, with an eye for spotting an opportunity and delivering on it
- Deep knowledge of, and passion for sport / gaming
- Experience working in Hong Kong, Singapore and broader APAC region
- Preferable if currently living in-region and you have a strong network of contacts that help grow Wasserman’s business in the region
- Additional Asian language is an advantage
