Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Operations and Program Management VP, the WNBA Operations Analyst will be responsible for leading administrative activities for WNBA Referee Operations and driving timely completion of projects for remote WNBA Referee Operations staff. In addition, this position will assist in furthering the business goals of Referee Operations including managing CBA driven deliverables, coordinating a referee evaluation schedule, assisting with curriculum development, and coordinating activities for various clinics and camps.
Major Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for assisting referees with various administrative matters and off-court responsibilities
- Support the overall planning and execution of various WNBA events
- Compile, organize, analyze and submit various reports, including WNBA referee performance data, WNBA referee electronic interaction and engagement logs on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis as needed
- Participate in various departmental meetings and conference calls throughout the season
- Draft and edit presentations on behalf of WNBA Referee Operations that will be leveraged at various meetings and events, including Board of Governors, Competition Committee, Head Coach and General Manager meetings, etc.
- Support the annual updating of the WNBA Rulebook, Referee Casebook, and Referee Manual, including research, reference checking, editing, billing, and shipping
- Coordinate all of aspects of referee outfitting, including sizing and shipping
- Assist in the administration and tracking of referee fines, in coordination with the Referee Operations Liaison
- Coordinate annual staff awards, including cost estimates, ordering, and shipping
- Coordinate the midseason and end of year evaluation process, including obtaining and compiling team ratings twice annually, setting deadlines and coordinating delivery of evaluations to referees, compiling and submitting EOY Binder to Legal
- Partner with Basketball Strategy & Growth and referee operations colleagues to obtain Developmental Advisor rankings and performance information, compile referee performance reports for the WNBA Playoff selection and hiring meetings
- Track referee performance related to daily off-court duties, including conference call attendance, video breakdown submissions, and games requiring a Last Two-Minute Report
- Compile the annual Referee Reference Guide and update throughout the season as needed
- Assist with the preparation of pre-season training instruction, including suggesting curriculum items, video playlist creation, and compiling presentations from internal and external presenters
- Create a live and TV game watch schedule; watch games as required during the season to document situations and plays of interest as directed
- Support various administrative and operational tasks as assigned
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
- Expertise in basic computer programs including – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- General familiarity with the WNBA, its teams, players, and rules
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Strong communication skills utilizing various modes of communication – electronic and interpersonal, required
- Ability to exercise good judgement in situations that are time sensitive and public-facing
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and attitude at all times, consistent with the expectations as set forth by the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League
- Highly organized with the ability to establish priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Proven ability to work independently and efficiently!
- Exceptional attention to detail, especially related to business writing and reporting
- Ability to interact well within, and across, multiple levels of the organization
- Strong public speaking and presentation experience!
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required
- Some travel required
Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000
