Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 is the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of 2026, carrying on the organization, promotion and communication of the sporting and cultural events related to the next Winter Games.

Milano Cortina 2026 will be the first large-scale Olympics in history: 13 Olympic venues, 21 provincial capitals, 2,300 municipalities directly involved, over an area of 22,000 square km.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee has been established in 2019 with the purpose of organizing Olympic and Paralympic Games in compliance with the Host City Contract signed jointly by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the two cities of Milano and Cortina and the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).

Furthermore, the Italian Paralympic Committee, the Regions of Lombardy and Veneto, as well as the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano/Bozen are all partners in this major national-level project, with the support of the Italian Government.

Position

The resource will be responsible for the following activities:

  • basic knowledge of weather models, forecasting techniques and meteorological terminology; understanding of winter weather patterns, snow conditions, and cold weather-related issues.
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey meteorological information clearly and effectively to laymen and report to the weather service provider on the organisation's requirements.
  • experience in project management, including planning, coordination and execution, especially in a dynamic environment such as sporting events.
  • familiarity with meteorological tools and software, familiarity with both meteorological and more general-purpose data interchange formats.
  • ability to develop and implement contingency plans for both possible weather-related disruptions during sporting events and possible malfunctions in the data transmission infrastructure.
  • understanding of the sports industry, particularly weather sensitivities specific to different sports and events.
  • strong analytical skills to evaluate weather data and predict its impact on event schedules, safety and logistics

Requirements

  • good interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships between weather service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • experience in organising and executing large-scale events, preferably sporting events, including coordination with various suppliers and service providers.
  • degree, or equivalent work experience in relevant roles.
