The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. The 2028 Olympics and Paralympics will represent LA and leverage the strength of our community's diversity and creativity as we collectively work to design a Games that we all want to be a part of. We do this by focusing on people and by inviting everyone into the story of the LA28 Games.

VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS AFFAIRS:

The VP, Business Affairs will negotiate and lead negotiation teams in connection with key agreements across all business lines of LA28 and must have experience in corporate business development and/or high-level dealmaking ideally in the sports and/or real estate sectors. This executive will work closely with senior members of the LA28 and United States Olympic and Paralympic Properties organization and will partner closely with the legal department which will support the negotiations and contracting, as well as the business/operations/marketing lead requiring negotiation support, requiring both technical and layperson communication skills. This position will leverage strategic development, negotiation, relationship-building, critical-thinking and communication skills to support the needs of the organization. Potential negotiations include venue use and real estate agreements, strategic marketing arrangements, vendor agreements, municipal and other government agreements, and marketing and content-creation support.

This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer responsible for commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an advisor to senior management and division heads on identified transactions.
  • Lead negotiation teams focused on identified workstreams and transactions.
  • Steady stream of self-directed analytical work, meetings, decision-making and draft reviewing, including preparing business terms, reviewing and negotiating all varieties of agreements.
  • Work closely with individual departments to manage transactions to achieve budgetary goals (or savings).
  • Supervise, monitor and assist in the career development of all direct reports.

While experience in these areas is preferred, we also look for candidates with intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly to round out areas where a candidate may not have depth of experience. Background & Qualifications:

  • Masters in Business Administration and/or Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school highly preferred
  • Experience in sports, media/entertainment, live-events or internationally is a plus
  • Knowledge of guild and union agreements and contracts
  • Local candidates preferred

Position Requirements: Education:

  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred.

Expectations:

  • 10+ years' experience in broad-based business development / negotiations required.
  • Concrete understanding of business transactional principles.
  • Ability to adapt rapidly in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities, handle ambiguity, and react gracefully under pressure.
  • Willingness to help business partners across the organization meet their objectives which rely on negotiations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully fostering and sustaining relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a range of personalities and styles across all levels of the organization and externally.

  • High level of personal integrity and professional ethics; ability to maintain confidentiality.

The annual base salary range for this position is $220,00,000 - $260,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.

LA28 does not provide relocation assistance.
