Venue Technology Manager (Women's RWC England 2025 LOC)

FIXED-TERM CONTRACT SEPTEMBER 2025

Based in the official location of Bristol or Exeter (plus 2 days every fortnight in the Twickenham Central office) OR based in Twickenham 3 days a week, with travel to venue as required for the role.

Women's Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women's RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.

Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women's rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. Women's RWC 2025 will be the ultimate stage for the best players, teams and coaches from 16 nations across the globe and is set to be the biggest and most widely watched women's rugby event ever. The RWC 2025 LOC is looking to appoint a Venue Technology Manager, reporting into the Technology Operations Manager. The Venue Technology Manager is a key member of the team that will be responsible for supporting the Technology Operations Manager and RWC 2025 technology suppliers with the design, implementation, operational support and decommissioning of the ICT infrastructure and services across the RWC 2025 Tournament venues. The role requires excellent stakeholder relationship management skills, a demonstrable background in project management in a complex environment along with a very good technical understanding of ICT infrastructure, security and network operations.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the Technology Operations Manager with the development of operational plans.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, key stakeholders, suppliers and other external parties as required.
  • Assist with management of operational service delivery by external ICT specialist providers to compliment in-house resource ensuring that the infrastructure is properly supported and developed.
  • Participation in Venue management planning meetings and workshops, test events, readiness exercises and technology testing.
  • Organise and supervise contractors and outside support staff, ensuring that work is carried out successfully and all technology is implemented at the Venues as planned and to the agreed schedule.
  • Monitoring of completed installations to ensure technology equipment is operating to required standards; and daily reporting on technology status escalating of issues as appropriate.
  • Assess and coordinate the management of technical risks to the business as they relate to the provision of technology at venues.
  • Provide high quality customer service to all parties, internal and external.
  • Responsibility for ensuring Technology equipment and services are securely removed and accounted for from the Venues; ensuring existing Venues services are returned to their original state, and Venues are left in good condition.
  • Supervision of the Technology workforce (staff, volunteers and contractors) at the Venues including management of Venue Technology Helpdesk (if established at the Venues).
  • Be the single point of contact for any and all technology incidents on Venue.
  • Ensure end user queries or issues are captured, validated, and triaged for further analysis.
  • Liaison with the RWC 2025 Venue Team and participation in Venue meetings; and Daily reporting and escalation.
  • Manage day to day service delivery requirements and vendors to ensure an appropriate delivery of ICT technology that meet the requirements and/or sponsorship constraints of RWC 2025.
  • Provide ICT project support and training when required.
  • Undertake other duties as determined by the RWC2025 Technology Operations Manager to meet team and organisation objectives.

Experience & knowledge you'll need:

  • Proven Venue Technology Management experience
  • Significant experience of delivering IT services, infrastructure and solutions in a high availability environment.
  • Experienced in managing project and Service Level Agreements in a multi-vendor environment, including directly managing vendor relationships.
  • Working knowledge of IT industry standards and new technology opportunities.
  • General knowledge of the hardware in use including peripheral devices such as printers.
  • Ability to identify, manage, and diagnose issues and problems.

Nice to Haves:

  • Proven experience managing technology solutions and projects in multi-vendor environments.
  • Practical and pragmatic approach to scoping business requirements which are fit for Tournament purposes as opposed to for a business as usual operation.
  • Professional Project Management Qualification (minimum Foundation level)
  • Extensive knowledge of ICT Infrastructure design and delivery
