FIFA World Cup 26 Skills Framework

Reporting organisationally to the Head of Human Rights, the Sustainability & Human Rights Venue Manager will serve as a key member of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Sustainability & Human Rights (SHR) team. This role ensures venue-level execution of FIFA’s Sustainability and Human Rights programmes, providing expert support across all Functional Areas (FAs) to uphold FIFA’s standards on sustainability, inclusion, accessibility, safeguarding, environmental responsibility, and human rights compliance. The main responsibilities include:

Venue-Level Sustainability & Human Rights Delivery

  • Provide ongoing Sustainability & Human Rights guidance, support, and expertise to all Functional Areas operating at the stadium.
  • Ensure SHR standards, guidelines, and operational requirements are understood and implemented across venue teams.


Awareness, Activations & Programme Support

  • Coordinate, deliver, and monitor SHR-related awareness activities at the venue.
  • Support educational initiatives, visibility materials, and in-stadium activations focused on sustainability, inclusion, and rights protections.


Incident Management & Safeguarding Support

  • Assist with incident liaison in cases of Safeguarding, Human Rights, or similar complaints raised within stadium areas.
  • Participate in in-stadium incident triage efforts, escalating issues appropriately to SHR HQ and relevant stakeholders.


Venue Assessments & Accessibility

  • Conduct inspections to identify accessibility gaps across the venue (mobility, sensory inclusion, path of travel, seating, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Functional Areas (e.g., Mobility Services, Security, Venue Management) to implement solutions.


Coordination with Contractors & Suppliers

  • Serve as the on-site SHR liaison for vendors, contractors, and service providers delivering sustainability or human rights-related services.
  • Ensure operational readiness and delivery against SLAs and FIFA requirements.


Knowledge Management

  • Document SHR best practices, operational successes, and lessons learned at the venue.
  • Support post-match reporting and contribute to tournament debriefs.


Planning, Meetings & Venue Engagement

  • Represent the SHR function at venue-level meetings, briefings, and cross-functional planning sessions.
  • Provide SHR updates, raise risks, and align on venue readiness with key stakeholders.


Team Management

  • Manage SHR venue staff and/or volunteers, ensuring they are properly briefed, equipped, and aligned with SHR protocols.
  • Oversee daily operations, task allocation, and performance within the SHR team at the venue.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Human Rights, International Relations, Social Impact, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Event Management, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience in sustainability, human rights, ESG, major events, or compliance roles will be considered.


Work Experience

  • Experience working in sustainability, human rights, accessibility, social impact, safeguarding, or related operational roles.
  • Background in large-scale events, venue operations, or multi-stakeholder environments preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional operations and respond to sensitive issues under pressure.


Language

  • Fluent in English (required)
  • Spanish and/or French proficiency is a plus


Technology

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and digital reporting systems.
  • Experience using venue management tools, incident reporting platforms, or accessibility assessment systems is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with sustainability monitoring tools, dashboards, or compliance software is a plus.
