Job Summary
The Security Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day security operations under the guidance of the Security Manager. This role includes supervising security personnel, ensuring the safety of company assets, employees, and facilities, and supporting the Security Manager in implementing security policies and procedures. The Security Supervisor plays a key role in incident response, staff training, and ensuring the compliance of security protocols across the organization. This position also performs other projects and activities as necessary to support business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Security Operations:
- Supervise the security team during daily operations, ensuring all duties are carried out effectively and in accordance with company policies.
- Monitor security systems, including surveillance and access control, to maintain the safety of personnel and company property.
- Provide on-the-ground support for security incidents, managing response efforts in collaboration with the Security Manager.
- Team Supervision & Training:
- Oversee the performance of security personnel, ensuring all team members follow established security protocols.
- Assist the Security Manager with scheduling, shift management, and ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Provide training and guidance to security officers to ensure they are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to perform their roles effectively.
- Incident Response & Reporting:
- Act as the first responder to security incidents, managing situations such as unauthorized access, theft, or other breaches.
- Lead the initial investigation into security breaches or incidents, collecting relevant information for further review by the Security Manager.
- Prepare incident reports, detailing observations, actions taken, and outcomes for each security event.
- Compliance & Enforcement:
- Ensure compliance with all security policies, procedures, and regulations across the team.
- Conduct regular inspections of security posts, equipment, and personnel to maintain high standards of security performance.
- Ensure that security personnel follow access control procedures, perform proper visitor management, and secure sensitive areas.
- Facility Security:
- Monitor the physical security of facilities, ensuring that doors, gates, and other entry points are properly secured.
- Support the Security Manager in enforcing emergency response procedures such as fire drills, evacuations, and threat response.
- Assist in maintaining security-related equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the Security Manager for immediate resolution.
- Support to Security Manager:
- Assist the Security Manager in implementing new security initiatives and programs to improve facility safety.
- Provide regular updates to the Security Manager on team performance, incidents, and areas for improvement.
- Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as delegated by the Security Manager, including assisting with security audits and training programs.
- Contractor Oversight Support:
- Help monitor the performance of contract security personnel, ensuring that they meet company standards.
- Act as a liaison between in-house and contract security teams, ensuring seamless coordination and communication.
Qualifications
- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in security or law enforcement, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Experience in managing or working with both in-house and contract security teams is a plus.
- Familiarity with access control systems, CCTV, and incident management.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong proficiency utilizing Microsoft suite and other similar systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to conduct detailed investigations and complete incident reports.
- Knowledge of emergency response and security protocols.
- Proficiency with security technology such as surveillance systems and access control software.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish is highly desirable

Working Conditions

- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
- May require working outside of regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the security needs.
- May involve standing or walking for extended periods and working in various weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry security equipment or materials weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Capability to respond to physical security incidents, including potential physical interventions when necessary.
