Staffing Officer
Location: Old Trafford / Carrington Training Ground

The Role:
The Staffing Officer is responsible for the end‑to‑end coordination, onboarding, deployment and ongoing management of a large operational workforce supporting matchday and event delivery across Welcome Team, Bag Drop and Car Parks, alongside the casual workforce at Carrington Training Centre (CTC).
The role ensures the right people are in the right place at the right time, delivering a safe, welcoming and efficient experience across all venues.
Responsibilities:
Workforce Scope
- Oversee a casual workforce of approximately 280 staff across Matchday and Event operations (Welcome, Bag Drop, Car Parks)
- Support circa 50 casual staff at Carrington Training Centre (CTC)
- Focus on staffing across matchdays, events, training ground activity, and peak operational periods
Workforce Planning & Scheduling
- Coordinate staffing requirements in line with matchday, event, and CTC operational plans
- Develop and manage rotas for Welcome, Bag Drop, and Car Park teams
- Support workforce planning for CTC casual staff based on venue activity
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels, including contingency and resilience planning
Casual Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage the end-to-end onboarding process for all casual staff, including right-to-work checks, contract issuance, inductions, and system/payroll setup
- Maintain accurate workforce records and ensure full compliance with employment requirements
- Deliver a timely and efficient onboarding process aligned with operational deadlines
Operational Delivery & Management
- Act as the central coordination point for staffing on matchdays and events
- Manage live operational challenges, including absences, last-minute changes, and redeployment
- Support venue managers and supervisors with day-to-day staffing queries
- Ensure staff are effectively briefed, deployed, and aligned with operational expectations
Carrington Training Centre Support
- Work closely with the Venue Operations Manager – CTC to resource training ground activity and events
- Manage casual staff availability and deployment for Carrington operations
- Support the continued growth of CTC events and activity
- Drive consistency between stadium and CTC staffing processes
Engagement, Performance & Retention
- Act as the first point of contact for casual workforce queries
- Support attendance management and engagement initiatives
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and professional working environment
- Provide workforce insights to support continuous improvement
Compliance, Systems & Reporting
- Maintain accurate workforce data across scheduling and HR systems
- Support payroll processes to ensure accuracy for casual and event staff
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, safety standards, and operational procedures
- Produce reports on headcount, utilisation, and staffing risks

Skills and Competencies
- Experience coordinating large seasonal, casual or event‑based workforces
- Strong organisational and scheduling capability
- High attention to detail, particularly around compliance and onboarding
- Ability to work calmly in live operational environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Confidence working across multiple reporting lines
