JOB SUMMARY:
The Systems Engineer plans, implements and oversees Fanatics infrastructure, corporate systems, and identity Management. Supports on-premises storage and compute services for both in-house and externally facing systems. The main objective is to build and maintain high-availability infrastructure to sustain the online and internal information technology activities of our users.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide expertise and assist customers, developers, and partners with design decisions.
- Provide on-going maintenance and implementation of updates and patches.
- Recommend and implement standards, policies, and procedures to achieve agreed upon service levels by tuning, maintaining, and supporting a breadth of infrastructure.
- Providing design recommendations and expertise regarding the integration and architecture of commercial application packages.
- Develops and Plan lifecycle replacement, coordinate outages, and perform performance tuning for applications and hardware.
- Maintain monitoring and data gathering systems for reporting and performance purposes.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors to address and resolve problems.
- Work closely with the business stakeholders and developers to ensure smooth planning, implementation and cutovers of systems.
- Maintain the systems roadmap for lifecycle, improvements and upgrades and capacity planning functions.
- Participate in all technical aspects of server technology, Virtualization, Storage, Replication, and security projects including, short and long-term planning.
- Provide technical support, operations and problem resolution of systems infrastructure as required, including 24X7 On-Call support.
- Provide support and implementation planning for business continuity and disaster recovery.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must have a good grasp of system trends and the mission of the group to provide the most cost effective and efficient systems.
- Manage identity and access, including the implementation and maintenance of Microsoft Active Directory.
Azure and AWS Cloud technologies:
- Design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions to support business operations.
- Ensure the security, availability, and performance of cloud services.
- Collaborate with teams to migrate existing applications and infrastructure to cloud platforms.
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code to Promote automation when appropriate
- Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage and costs.
- Stay updated with the latest cloud technologies and best practices to provide innovative solutions.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- 7+ years of experience.
- No supervision needed, only direction from leadership for priorities. Excellent time management skills working on projects, operational support, and mentorship to peers.
- May need minimal guidance to manage priorities.
- Active role in peer mentoring other engineers on key technologies within department.
- SME on multiple technologies and Senior technical expert role on at least one technology.
- Able to lead projects providing technical direction across multiple business and technology group.
- Able to anticipate and identify issues, recover from production failures, and triage system-wide performance issues.
- Proactively seeks opportunities to improve ecosystems at an enterprise level.
- Provides deep understanding of business-critical systems, processes and how they interact with each other. A 25K-foot view of the tech stack.
- Understands implications and tradeoffs of reliability, scalability, operational costs, and ease of adoption by the organization.
- Focuses on the design and architecture of complex systems.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with peers, managers, and internal customers.
- Experience supporting operational availability in an enterprise environment.
- Experience developing or monitoring and maintaining enterprise infrastructure on multiple platforms.
- Knowledge of configuration with Microsoft OS, LINUX OS, VMWare, SANs, and Hyperconverged Infrastructure.
- Knowledge of configuration with PCI DSS.
- Knowledge of configuration of Windows 20XX, Active Directory, IIS, Linux, DNS, DHCP, FTP and SMTP.
- Knowledge of configuration .net, PowerShell, Web Architecture, Multi-tier Architecture.
- Proven ability of scripting skills in Ansible, PHP, Python, Bash, Terraform or PowerShell.
- knowledge of applications and development methodologies.
- Proficient knowledge and experience with network and systems management tools.
- Proficient ability to document designs and reference architectures in detail using workflows, diagrams, and technical documents.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to provide a synopsis to management.
- Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience necessary.
