Role Overview:
The Staff Infrastructure Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure consisting of on-premises data centers and public cloud. The engineer will assist in the development and maintenance of cloud platforms and associated tooling and automation as well as troubleshooting and resolution of incidents. This role includes participating in the design, documentation, and implementation of solutions that set standards and drive the strategy for Company Corporate Infrastructure. The Staff Engineer will keep up to date on new technology and industry trends relevant to their role.
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum 7 years as an Infrastructure Automation Engineer.
Schedule: Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule.
Additional education and experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Position Requirements:
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Significant experience in writing configurations and modules, and translating designs into fully developed IaC.
Cloud Platforms: Strong knowledge of major cloud platforms (certification preferred).
Networking and Security: Solid understanding of networking concepts, including subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and security.
Enterprise-Scale Environments: Experience building highly available IaaS and PaaS solutions.
Scripting Languages: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python).
Decision-Making: Ability to manage ambiguous situations and make decisions based on available information.
Task Management: Ability to work on multiple tasks of varying scope and scale.
Vendor Collaboration: Ability to work with external vendors and suppliers to implement and support systems.
Teamwork: Ability to work individually and as part of a virtual team.
Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills, tailoring messages to the audience.
SOPs and Processes: Experience creating technical standard operating procedures and processes.
Work Environment: Able to work on-site with potential for remote work.
Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional global teams.
OT Integration: High-level understanding of integrating IT and OT networks, industrial control systems (e.g., SCADA), and ensuring secure and reliable data flow between OT and cloud systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
Certifications: With leading Cloud Providers and/or products.
Industry Experience: Experience in a technology-focused industry.
Regulated Environment: Experience working in a regulated environment.
